However, when she was called to the stage to accept an award, we officially had on our hands the first (and, to our knowledge, the only) wardrobe malfunction of the evening.
Carey gathered her extra-long dress in her hands, which did little to help the star walk in the mermaid-like gown. Husband Nick Cannon exchanged worried glances with Carey, and immediately stood to escort his wife on stage, holding her steady as she shuffled down the aisle.
Carey thanked her husband in her acceptance speech, but we were amused when she thanked him "...especially for helping me with this dress!"
Next time, Miss Mariah, be sure to try it on before the big night!
