The rain drops weren't the only thing sparkling on the Golden Globes red carpet.

"Hair accessories and adornments are a big trend right now and we are seeing it on the runways in fashion shows and on red carpets," said celebrity hair stylist Mark Townsend, who was responsible for January Jones' chic black ribbon headband.

"I love using ribbons, crystals, and sometimes even diamonds to dress up a simple hair style," he told told StyleList.

Rose Byrne opted for a sparkling hair clip, Carey Mulligan dressed up her pixie crop with a diamond head band. Hair stylist Robert Vetica created Marion Cotillard's rock 'n roll French twist with hair pins -- and fancy ones at that. "Chopard did $150,000 hair pins for us, and they are attached unevenly in the back," he told us.

Townsend was inspired by Jones' black Lanvin dress. "It was a very classic silhouette done in a completely modern way," he said. "As soon as I saw the dress I knew I wanted to put her up and I think that adding the satin ribbon as a headband gave a classic french twist a very modern edge."

The best part? This trend is easy for us to try at home.

"I think women want a little bit of fun in their hair styles and this a inexpensive and easy way to achieve that," said Townsend.
