The must-have accessories on the Golden Globe red carpet were umbrellas and updo's. And both were thanks to the rain.

Celebrity hairstylist Robert Vetica, who was responsible for Marion Cotillard's rock 'n roll updo, tells StyleList, "It was raining hard before she left and we heard that there was no cover for half of the red carpet. I needed to calm it down some, in order to be sure that the moisture would not effect it."

Drew Barrymore, Amy Adams, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Nicole Kidman and a slew of other A-listers followed suite, wrapping their hair into chic updos, from Gyllenhaal's tight ballerina bun to Barrymore's boyish wrap-around to Kidman's side swept chignon.

For Cotillard's hair, which he called "rock and roll with a french twist." Vetica used Moroccanoil Treatment on wet hair, diffused the hair dry before pin curling the hair from front to back in one inch sections. After unclipping the curls, he ran Moroccanoil Hydrating Styling Cream through her locks, backcomb it and then pulled the sides back tight. "I left some volume on top, twisted it all back into a tight French twist and then attached the diamond hair clips," he said.

The clips, by the way, were from Chopard and valued at $150,000. It may have rained, but the glamour still poured.
