The celebrity will now be creating a denim collection with apparel giant Jones New York. The Camuto Group, which holds the master license for Simpson's lifestyle brand (the Jessica Simpson Collection), and the Jones Apparel Group have signed a deal to create an extensive collection to include jeans, tops, jackets and skirts set to hit department stores in July.
Simpson herself has many favorites. "The jeggings are amazing and the skinny jeans fit to perfection," she told StyleList. "We have great tops, super soft T's and cute boyfriend blazers and jackets that complete the look." Jeans start at $49 and the other items range from $29 to $79.
While the majority (Jennifer Lopez, Eve, Kristin Davis) are failing, the Jessica Simpson machine keeps rolling along, not unlike Sean "P. Diddy" Combs and his Sean John collection. Perhaps it has something to do with her level of personal involvement.
"She has a very strong point of view and would be in here working long hours on this, sometimes up to 12 hours or so," Jones jeanswear CEO Jack Gross told WWD. "I have to say, I didn't really expect to see that."
"What I like about Jessica is that she comes across as approachable and not too edgy, which allows for the collection to translate to a broader customer base," Gross added.
Simpson is scheduled to do an extensive number of in-store appearances at Macy's, Belk, Bon-Ton and Dillard's this summer to promote the collection's launch.
Let's just hope she's not going to try and sell us those horrible high-waisted "mom" jeans she was taken to task for wearing last year.
