Shaving is a choice, but it is also good hygiene. But for crying out loud when you go and win a Golden Global Award and you know the world will be watching you your appearance is everything! She got plenty of money she could of paid someone to come to her house and wax them legs for this oscar event. And then she goes on to say she shave her underarms like its not a total package of shaving from head to toe. Thats just like someone saying I just only brush the front of my teeth and not the back of my teeth or my tongue.

Let's me honest, I don't know any woman who shaves her legs every single day in the winter time. However, I wouldn't let my leg hair get that long. I would shave for special event such as the Golden Globes. I personally think it's gross to have leg hair like that, but whatever.

I think it's her hair to do with what she likes, and as long as HER HAIR is on HER LEG on HER BODY it's HER CHOICE. Whether she's a celebrity in the "public eye" or not (as previously commented) is irrelevant because in one way or another we are all in the "public eye" unless you are a hermit. We are all subject to basically the same standards of beauty it's our choice whether we conform to it or not. I am not defending Mo'nique in any way; she is a grown woman and doesn't need it. But I am personally just tired of people in general feeling like they can comment or judge someone else when they themselves are not worthy of judging anyone. Give it a rest and work on yourselves, the world would be a much better place for it!!!

It's nobody's business what a woman does with her legs ... it's more disgusting to see piercings where they were never meant to be. Monique can afford to have someone shave her legs if she wanted to so it's her preference not to shave, which once started, will make hair grow more and more. If she wears pants most of the time, why bother shaving. Some men have hairy backs which is more disgusting than a woman's hairy legs.

In Europe it's not a big deal so we need to get off our high horses because it's a superficial thing that has nothing to do with how a person is.

Well, well, well, finally something I feel compelled to respond to. When I was YOUNGER I didn't shave my legs and I am NOT FAT OR LAZY...and I am a BEAUTIFUL BLACK WOMAN. I was a "tomboy" and didn't do the "girlie stuff". Never felt compelled to shave my legs...period. A few years back I met a man who "didn't like a lot of hair". So, I shaved, waxed(owwwwwwwww), did whatever it took. I LOVE a man with chest hair , but this man had all the hair taken off his chest before we met. When I mentioned how I thought it was sexy, and if he could grow it back, he said no, I needed to accept him the way he was. Funny, I had to accept him the way he was, but he couldn't accept me the way I was. After reading this article, and reading some very idiotic responses I am going to be looking for a REAL MAN WITH CHEST HAIR, WHO LIKES A GOOD LOOKING, NOT FAT OR LAZY

Hey if she likes it, and it doesn't bother her husband why should it matter to anyone else. I keep everything shaved, that's the way I like it, and my husband keeps it smooth also, because that's the way I like it. What ever you like I say do it, it's no ones business but your own.

I wish I had the courage to not shave my legs; I hate cutting myself and I swear with my hair I need a weedwacker to get that off. I haven't found an electric razor that works.

All who don't like her hairy legs, too bad. GOD made us all in his image and HE made NO mistakes. Besides regardless of your opinion, she is PAID and has a man who loves her, all of her, hair, fat and all. Opinions are like butt-holes, everyone has one, and even some people are one. Come into the 21st century, what was good or fashionable in the past is not necessarily what we as modern women want today. Leave us alone and worry about what your women are doing, it you have one. I wasnt even going to comment on this, but I just couldnt help myself. I read all the pros and cons, and I think your all right, except the ones who are name callers, that I dont like at all. Should she shave her legs? Thats her business. Does it look good? No. Should she have kept that info. to herself? I think so. I think woman look more ladylike if they are clean shaven, and most men I know think so. If she wants to have hairy legs and show them off, then I guess she will have to take the fallout. But being overweight and a black woman should not be an issue at all.

Shaving your legs is unnatural. It is only in the 20th century when the fashion for shorter skirts evolved that women began shaving their legs. If hygiene were the issue, and it is not, then men should be shaving their entire bodies. Males insist that women shave their vagina's, legs and underarms and societal pressure is put on us to do so but we women have to put up with hairy penises, scrotums, backs, chests and underarms that don't always smell very good and quite often aren't very clean. Yet men don't consider their hair a hygiene issue.

If you shower/bathe daily, the hair on your body, wherever it might be, will be clean. Females being hairless is a modern, artificial, preference NOT the natural order of things. Body hair is as natural on women as it is on men who are not forced to shave themselves and should be a personal preference as to whether one shaves or doesn't shave.

Fat, ugly, disgusting, and pig are all the adjectives I can use to describe Mo'Nique. Maybe she can get away with it in Europe, but here in the U.S.??? NO WAY!!!
