Olsen Twins' Beauty Brand To Close

Looks like not everything the Olsen twins touch turns to gold.

According to WWD, the twins' 7 year old beauty brand called mary-kateandashley is closing. The brand, which was sold primarily at Wal-Mart included fragrances, makeup, and even hair appliances.

But don't rule them out of the beauty game just yet.

Mary-Kate and Ashley's new junior brand of clothing and accessories called Olsenboye will launch in J.C. Penney stores this February, which gives them another outlet to try a beauty line.

Our two cents is that the closing of mary-kateandashley is a smart move.

The brand was very tween-y, which was fine for when the girls were tweens. But they've matured into designer-wearing, red-carpet walking fashion muses and it makes sense that they would want a brand with their name on it to reflect that.

And say what you will about the Olsen twins, but they're nothing if not business savvy!

i thought the article would say they're out of money... but it was nothing more than their stupid clothing line sucks.

hey, what's the deal with their faces? they have that extensive plastic surgery aura about their mugs, don't they? but they're too young for that... or are they just strange-looking? they both have "old woman" facial features. weird.

These Girl are defiantly on "Drugs"....the look like walking Zombies....
What a shame to be so young, beautiful and rich to look like this....they look like the walking Dead!......what happened to their parents to let them look like this?...and what happened to the incident with that "joker " Actor who die of a overdose...it was swept under the rug.....I guess money can do that!

I agree! They don't even look like the Mary-Kate and Ashley that I had in mind when clicking the button to see this article. But it explains to me why their beauty brand is closing. They don't know how to use beauty products to make them beautiful.

I don't know, I always thought their clothes at Walmart were some of the cuter ones for my girls, but I wondered the same thing about them getting older and if they'd still make little girl clothes. It would seem a little weird after awhile I think.

I think they are not great role models for tweens at all! The look frail and seem to be always simply drinking coffee! Starving yourself never works and is just plain dangerous. What works best for me is portion control, walking and never letting myself feel deprived.

I live in New York City and I get up a little early so I can walk to work. Walking is the best exercise and overall toner for me ! My stomach is tighter, my legs and butt are more toned and I simply feel better. It does not require a gym membership, a trainer or any equipment. Be that as it may, I know I just can't stroll to work and /or walk lunchtime and then chow down on a burger and fries and expect to lose weight and have a flat tummy! You have to watch your portion size, eat less and burn more.

I am a full time working mom, and staying in shape is rough for me. What I do right now for exercise as I don't have time to go to a gym is take a walk at lunch and run on the weekends. I also eat a diet based on whole grains, veggies and lean protein. I also try to avoid diet foods, diet soda and artificial sweeteners. I wear smartsole exercise insoles http://www.smartsole.com . They are anti cellulite insoles that help you tone muscles, increase circulation and cause you to burn more calories with every step. So you are getting a work out and toning your legs and butt even when just running errands.

I read about them in Prevention mag in an article on exercise shoes and they are a fabulous way to get toned for those of us with crazy schedules. They listed the code jm10 to save 10% off.

I have lost 40 pounds over the last 3 years and though not skinny, I am now in shape and toned and can wear a size 8 jeans. Toned, healthy and fit with curves is the goal!

I'm sad to see their line go. They had great products and at a very affordable price! I only stopped buying them about a year or so ago when Walmart pulled their products from the shelf. What a shame!

I think before the Olsen twins start selling makeup, they should learn how to apply it to their own faces. The way they wear their eyeliner and whatnot makes them look like a couple of undead zombies

The irony is that they were associated with beauty products in the first place. This is the first picture I've seen of them in sometime that didn't show them with dark circles under their eyes. They are simply average looking girls (nothing wrong with that), but not whom I would think of as icons of beauty. Then again, the world flocked to Kate Moss at one time, didn't they?

I have NEVER purchased anything these twits tout or anything with their names or likenesses attached - they are extremely poor role models for young girls and buying their junk only supports their bizarre behavior and excesses. Frankly, they're only "famous" because they were BABIES on a show...no talent needed - and they haven't exhibited anything remotely resembling talent since! Can we say, buh-bye!

omg are u people jealous or what. They did much more than appear as babies on a show. Made several movies that were a hit for young girls.Their line was cute for young girls. I agree that it is time to move on to an older consumer. They may be a bit bizarre but alot of billionairs are just that.

Jealous? You have GOT to be kidding. I KNOW they did more things, I said they were only famous for being babies where NO talent was needed as they showed NO TALENT since, and that includes in the movies you allude to - they only got THOSE roles because of the television show! Because (MAYBE) young girls liked those movies does not mean they were GOOD movies. Get over yourself and these losers. And being "billionaires" is no excuse for being idiots and classless! No reason to be jealous of these two!

I think it's a shame that they are abandoning the younger girls. There is no reason for not having a wider audience. Nothing wrong with expanding, but expand don't abandon. My girls love their clothes, and will continue as they get older and don't have to change stylists.
On a side note, I think they are looking pretty good in their pics. They always reminded me of my youngest. They are almost clones except she is older than they are. I used to joke "did I have triplets and noone told me? "lol
