Changing shopping habits and a hard-hitting recession sure have made beauty companies rethink the way they sell products -- and we, the consumer, are reaping the rewards.
More and more brands are embracing members-only online shopping sites and offering discounts -- sometimes up to 80% off -- on beauty products. Discounts on our fave brands and we don't have to leave the house to get them? This is a shopping trend we can get behind!
And don't think they're selling old, undesirable products here -- beauty-specific sites like The Skinny, The Fairest, Market For Drama and Beauty Ticket offer premium products from brands like Smashbox, YSL, Diana B, Själ, Perricone MD and many, many more.
The fashion sale sites like Rue La La and Gilt Groupe have also started sprinkling some beauty and spa deals in with their usual fashion/accessory offerings.
However, according to WWD not all beauty brands are stoked on the idea. General manager of Murad skincare Richard Murad told WWD that he thinks the "closeout nature" of these sales -- referring to the limited 1-3 day timing on the sales -- can ultimately hurt a brand's reputation.
That may be true from a business standpoint but here at StyleList we're from a buying standpoint and 80% off luxury skincare works just fine for us.
We love a bargain! Check out this week's Sale Rack for some sweet deals on fashion and beauty.
