Michelle Obama's State of the Union Dress

The First Lady showed up in a raisin-colored 3/4 sleeve sweater dress with a high-waisted bubble skirt by Isaac Mizrahi. The dress retails for $1850 and was a part of Mizrahi's Pre-Fall 2009 collection.
She accessorized with a strand of pearls and an extra-sleek blowout -- and a radiant smile.
We secretly kind of love the fact that you can tell when Michelle blows out her own hair, and when it's been professionally done. It's nice to see her polished at times, and then more natural at others. After all, we can't relate to anyone who's perfectly coiffed 24/7!
All in all, this was a great look for Mrs. O, though perhaps not nearly as exciting and controversial as when she first introduced congress to her bare arms in a sleeveless dress. The form-fitting top keeps things contemporary, while the full skirt keeps her covered up. It's appropriate for the occasion, and still much more contemporary than a fussy blazer or twinset.
What do you think of her outfit? What would you wear to such a high-profile event? Leave a comment and let us know.

I really like the dress she had on tonight! Eggplant is definitely her color! I think it is the best dress I have seen her in, next to that black evening gown that she was photographed in (the one with bare arms and shoulders, that came up around her neck).
