Feeling adventurous? Why not show it with your lips? You don't have to be Gwen Stefani or Christina Aguilera to look great in a bold, red lipstick. Believe it or not, this is a color that can flatter just about everyone -- you just have to pick the right shade for your skin tone.

If you have fair skin, glamour.com recommends choosing a coral red. This will add just enough color without overpowering your face. Try Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick in Fire & Ice for $8, Rouge Volupté in No. 16 for $34 or Maybelline New York Color Sensational Lipstick in Are You Red-dy at $7.50.

For medium skin tones, you have more options. You can wear a true red to pinky-cranberry shade, so try Rouge Dior Lipstick in Red Premiere for $28, CoverGirl TruShine Lipcolor in Valentine Shine at $7.50 or Chanel Rouge Allure in Audace for $30.

If you have dark skin, you'll want a deeper, richer burgundy or warm brick shade. Reds that are too bright will look unnatural and overly harsh. Recommendations include Lancôme L'Absolu Rouge in Smoky Rouge at $29, L'Oréal Paris Colour Riche Lipcolour in Red Rhapsody for $9 or Elizabeth Arden Color Intrigue Effects Lipstick in Ruby Pearl for $20.

Another thing to keep in mind when sporting your best red, is to consider the ligting. If you're going to be outdoors, opt for a softer shade because bright light will accentuate the color. For indoor or evening settings, you can go bolder. Also, if your lips are thin, avoid deep reds because they can make the lips appear smaller. And remember, since your lips are taking center stage, play down the rest of your makeup with more natural colors. Lighter, sheerer shades on your eyes and cheeks will complement your bold lips perfectly.
