Winter X Games 14 Street Style

2/1/2010 5:15PM by Lesley Kennedy

Scores of winter sports enthusiasts proved that functional clothing can be fashionable, too, at the Winter X Games 14 held over the weekend in tony Aspen, Colo.

A record-setting crowd of 84,100 attendees descended on Buttermilk Mountain at Aspen/Snowmass over four days to check out snowboard, ski and snowmobile superstars – including Olympians Shaun White, Gretchen Bleiler and Lindsey Jacobellis – attempt to take home X Games gold.

Turns out, several of the spectators – and athletes – earned a few style medals of their own by sporting high-end jackets paired with cool boots and funky hats and scarves. But the most coveted fashion item on the slopes? An X Games medal – shaped like a pair of ski goggles, naturally.

As competitor Bobby Brown, 18, who took first in both the men's Slopestyle and Big Air skiing finals, tells StyleList, "The gold medal is very nice."

Check out this gallery and then find our recommendation on what to wear after you hit the slopes.
