So much so, that the outlandish pop star landed the top spot on Spring 2010's fashion buzzword list, compiled by the Global Language Monitor.
The list was created using the organization's proprietary algorithm, which tracks words and phrases in print, online and social media.
"The relationship between Stefani Germanotta, the girl from Yonkers [NY], and haute couture may not be intuitively obvious, until you realize that Stefani would soon grow into one Lady Gaga," said Millie L. Payack, director and fashion correspondent of the Global Language Monitor.
"The fact remains that the world of fashion has been duly impacted by her in ways some subtle and some rather profound."
By "profound" does Payack suggest we'll start seeing face masks and floor-length latex dresses in the front row come New York Fashion Week? We're not so sure Anna would approve.
In other buzzword news, Michelle Obama dropped to number 15, from the coveted number two slot she held last fall, while Alexander McQueen's sci-fi heels have officially become "fashionspeak."
The complete list goes as follows:
- Lady Gaga: She catapulted to the top spot with her over-the-top style choices, thanks to all of us who follow them.
- Leggings 2.0: We suppose this is the new incarnation of jeggings, meggings and all other stretchy pants? Betcha Lindsay Lohan is happy.
- No pants: Thanks again, Gaga!
- Off-Shoulder: Due to the ubiquitous nature of one-shoulder and asymmetrical dresses, we're sure.
- Chandeliers: We loved them enough on our ceilings to make them a choice earring-style.
- Boyfriend: Sometimes jeans, sometimes blazers, and sometimes better than the real thing.
- Peek-a-boo: Oh, the cut-outs, how we j'adore.
- Camo: It's time to tap into your inner "Rambo."
- Hippie-Luxe: You so know the girl -- has a center-part, carries a fringed handbag by Gucci, drives a Prius, professes to not care about material things -- yet still vacations in St. Barths.
- Armadillos: Created by Alexander McQueen for his lobster claw footwear-- hey, if they're controversial enough for models to walk out on the show then they're good enough to make the list.
- Mixed prints: Clashing can be chic when done right.
- Embellishments: Touches of trimmings add instant dazzle.
- Ethical Fashion: Fashion with a conscience is no passing trend.
- Fashion 2.0: Have designers finally embraced "the Net?" Not if Olivier Theyskens has anything to do with it.
- MObama: She drops from last season's number two spot, but FLOTUS, nevertheless remains influential.
But Gaga isn't just crazy about clothes, her beauty choices are also way out there! See the bright yellow two-tone hair she sported at the Grammys.

she's not from Yonkers. If you're going to write about someone, please do your research. She's from Manhattan.
