THE SCOOP: Sophie Buhai and Lisa Mayock, the ever-cool design duo behind Vena Cava, turned out a Fall 2010 collection that was decidedly equestrian in feel, and long hair and sun-kissed skin provided the perfect accent to the earthy aesthetic.
"I wanted to create a fun modern equestrian," said hair stylist Ted Gibson, who added brightly-colored extensions in shades of teal and hot pink into hair that was pulled back in a low ponytail. " She is fun has a little bit of color in her hair, she's been out riding all day long, and decided to take a rest pull her hair back," said Gibson, who secured a black piece of leather over the knot of the ponytail to complete the look.
Makeup artist Lloyd Simmonds followed suit, giving the ladies a slightly dewy sun-kissed complexion "as if she's been horseback riding in the sun and is slightly sweaty," accented by a chic red mouth and groomed brows.
Dark earthy nail polish with a slightly foggy finish extended the equestrian theme.
GET THE LOOK - MAKEUP: For cheeks, Simmonds mixed together M.A.C's cream shadows in bronze, tan and orange, and swept them over the bridge of the nose, apple of the cheeks and the forehead for a sun-kissed glow. The women's lips got a slick of Red Lipmix gloss, while upper lashes were swept with M.A.C's Black Pro Lash Mascara. Proshine Wax or as Simmonds called it, " a little bit of grease" was brushed across the center and inner corner of the eye as well as the apple of the cheeks for a slightly "sweaty" effect.
