MAKEUP: James Kaliardos for MAC Cosmetics
HAIR: Paul Hersheson for TIGI
SNAPSHOT: Romantic Sophistication
THE SCOOP: Justin Thornton and Thea Bregazzi, the British design duo behind Preen, turned out such a tailored collection for fall that someone jokingly called it "Preen's version of office wear." Far from it, the structured pieces that came down the label's runway were as beautiful for their shaping as their pale fleshy palette.
Models' faces took on an iridescent quality at the hands of makeup artist James Kaliardos, who complimented the muted gray and pink tones of the collection with a mauve eye and strong lavender cheek. "It's a futuristic and tough look, but in soft tones so it's more romantic." He brought cheeks alive with a translucent lavender powder, while lips were dabbed with the a mauvey-pink color, but just enough so that pouts were still sheer.
Hair was pulled back in a pretty knot for a look that was elegant yet unfussy. "It's a very intelligent woman who wears his clothes," said stylist Paul Hersheson. "This isn't a girl who has her hair blown out. She's not high maintenance, but she's super chic." And "with a twist here and a braid there" Hersheson made chic look very simple indeed.
GET THE LOOK - MAKEUP: All makeup by MAC. Pink Freeze Eye Shadow on the inner lid and Beautiful Iris and Smooth Operator Eye Shadow on outer lid. Mineralized Skin Finish to contour cheeks and MAC Pro Cream Color Base in pink dabbed on the lips.
GET THE LOOK - HAIR: To create the beautiful braided knot, Hersheson applied Tigi's Root Boost on dry hair to make locks more malleable, then divided hair into two sections. He twisted the sections and then tied back with clear elastics. The look was finished with Tigi's Sleek Mystique Spray.
