DESIGNER: Preen by Thornton Bregazzi

INSPIRATION: A Japanese sense of volume and structure.

WHO WAS THERE: Alexandra Richards, Leigh Lezark, Julia Restoin Roitfeld, a gaggle of top editors

TOP LOOKS: Floral cocktail dress worn under a cropped navy turtleneck, a navy cut-out dress paired with a giant fur cocoon coat in a reptile-like texture; an artistically folded cut-out dress worn over a proper white collared shirt.

ACCESSORIES: Lace-up suede booties in creme and lavender, chunky rhinestone belts

WHAT WE THOUGHT: Cult-followed Preen nailed it this season (as it often doed), delivering easy-to-wear, yet supremely interesting dresses with made-you-look plays on shape and volume. Slim frocks with molded cups and cut-outs on the shoulders and below the breast (perhaps the new erogenous zone?) played a prominent role, perfectly paired with oversized, richly textured cocoon coats that skewed a little Yohji Yamamoto (and we mean that in an "absolutely amazing" way!) The palette was at once sophisticated (navy was a mainstay) and sweet (lavender and plum also got some play), and personally we wanted every single thing in the collection.
