DESIGNER: Jeremy Laing

INSPIRATION: The Pacific Northwest and an indigenous tribe in Canada; Dryad chic

TOP LOOKS: Reddish leather dress with black front zipper; taupe leather vest with beaver capelet; exaggerated dot-textured bubble-like sweater over layered split front skirt; long printed draped and belted dresses

ACCESSORIES: Rounded toe platform ankle and over the knee boots; tiny belts with hook hardware

WHO WAS THERE: Artist Terence Koh, who "curated the music." The Mishapes came to pay homage. And art world fixture A.A. Ronson -- who owns gallery Printed Matter -- rolled up with his signature ZZ Top beard.

WHAT WE THOUGHT: Jeremy Laing is on a strong path, and his collection for fall was a confident mix of layered texture (fur, knits, mesh voile, leather, printed jersey, hardware). The girls emerged like the sartorial love children of Kurt Cobain and a wood nymph. The palette was forest-like too, with an electric leaf green print, moss, bark browns, stone grey and russet red. Shapes were lean and many dresses and skirts were long (this is an emerging trend-hello, all things 90's)-but there remained a youthfulness with body-con silhouettes and the designer's signature lace leggings.
