Luca Luca Fall 2010 - Runway Review

INSPIRATION: "Mad Max?"
TOP LOOKS: This collection was a bit all over the place; it didn't have much going for it when it came to a distinctive style. However, the opening trench dress had a nice collar, as did a cropped navy tweed jacket.
ACCESSORIES: That's the thing. The mostly boring clothes could have been brought to some sort of life with thoughtful accessories and styling. When the "styling" on a basic black sheath was simply leaving the back zipper halfway down for some visual interest, there's a problem.
WHO WAS THERE: Carol Alt, Tinsley Mortimer, Siberian model Irina, controversial star of "The Real Housewives of New York City," Kelly Bensimon, blogger Julia Allison and her dog, former Luca Luca designer Luca Orlandi, his wife Olucchi and their toddler son -- basically a bunch of rent-a-celebs, and we use the term "celeb" loosely. One word of advice: leave your pets at home.
WHAT WE THOUGHT: If you have to fill your front row with B- and C-listers, we think maybe you shouldn't even bother. And, if you think a good audience will get you good show press, you should spend more time designing. Still, the trench coat dress was pretty.
