Perhaps all this utilitarian-chic has gone to the heads of designers, or maybe S&M is in the air, but strapping is already a trend for Fall 2010.

At Fashion Week there were calf-braces at Rag & Bone, and belts on the back of coats. At Altuzarra, the "Edward Scissorhands"-inspiration yielded bondage-style stacks of buckles on bound arms, legs and waists alike.

The vicious boots at DKNY were strapped and belted. And at Alexander Wang, waist cinchers squeezed naked midriffs, backs and accessorized jacket shoulders.

Are we bound to this all season?
