MAKEUP: Val Garland for M.A.C
HAIR: Rudi Lewis for Barex
NAILS: Angi Wingle for CND
SNAPSHOT: Bold & Beautiful
THE SCOOP: Monique Lhuillier's statement-making red carpet gowns can't be paired with wallflower beauty! The hair, makeup and nails this season were bold, crisp and glamorous without being stuffy.
Garland created a look based around deep, matte red lips. "It's a Lolita lip -- crimson red stain applied and tissued, then applied again. It's an easy way to look absolutely gorgeous by only doing one thing. The rest of the face is pulled back." Think beautiful, porcelain skin, a sheer lilac glaze on the eyes and no mascara.
We've been seeing a lot of gray and nude nail colors so far this season, so it was refreshing to see a vibrant, fiery red here. "It matches the lip, but with a very high shine," explained Wingle. "It looks great with all the clothes."
And the hair -- talk about a feat! Lewis created a tightly-pulled, mega shiny, intricately braided, asymmetric top knot. "Monique wanted something sculptural. It's not everyday hair, but her clothes aren't for every day," he said.
GET THE LOOK - MAKEUP: All products by M.A.C. On the lips Garland used Lip Pencil in Cherry, Pro Lipmix in Crimson and Pro Powder Blush in Apple Red (yes, that's a cheek color!) on top for a matte finish.
GET THE LOOK - HAIR: All products by Barex. Lewis tightly pulled the sides of the hair into two mini ponytails then pulled the front section back over the top of the head. He then gathered all the hair into a sleek high ponytail. He drenched the tail with Volumizzante Spray then Tricolife Serum to get it "nice and shiny and sticky. I don't want to have any semblance to real hair." He braided the tail with a strip of black fabric and then coiled the braid into a compact top knot.
GET THE LOOK - NAILS: CND nail color in Rouge Red is a classic, molten red.
