Vivienne Tam Fall 2010 - Runway Review
A very festive Fall 2010 collection from Vivienne Tam. Photos: Imaxtree (3)
INSPIRATION: The 12 animals of the Chinese zodiac.
TOP LOOKS: Pink petal top under ruffled cardigan paired with of-the-moment cropped pleated trousers, a silver sequin-embellished skirt, gold sequin top and belted ruffle cardigan, black swing coat with feathered hem worn over wild zebra print tights
ACCESSORIES: Animal print tights, suede oxford lace-up heels, chunky strap platform pumps.
WHO WAS THERE: Mena Suvari and Whitney Port
WHAT WE THOUGHT: We were pleasantly surprised by Tam this season. While she often plays with Far East references, Fall 2010's take was more subtle, which seemed to work better. The designer struck the perfect balance between masculine -- safari jackets paired with of-the-moment pleated cropped trousers, multi-pocketed tweed vests -- and feminine pieces, such as ombré frocks with artful origami folds, cardigans and blouses decorated in cascading silk petals and party dresses busting with sequins and feathers. Also, don't be surprised if her black animal print tights become a must-have for fall.
