INSPIRATION: The show was titled, "The Bride Wore Black," and the designer cited film noir and the non-color itself in her notes.

TOP LOOKS: Teal duchesses satin one shoulder draped tunic with black charmeuse paper-bag pant; ivory faille draped bustier with black and charcoal gray jersey pant; slouchy tuxedo jackets, one with a sheer back and sleeves; black short sleeve coat with grey Mongolian lamb hem (fur trimmed wool coats are everywhere... Anna Wintour herself was wearing on at the show); a tank dress drenched in silver sequins and black crystals

ACCESSORIES: Franken-booty strapped platforms with skinny heels. Piles of tiny pearls in a clump at the neck, and once or twice as fingerless glove-lets. Thigh-high socks worn playfully under sheer hems. Long skinny black leather gloves by Ines.

WHO WAS THERE: Fancy friends of the house like Tory Burch, Allison Sarofim, Marina Rust, Helen Lee Schifter, Lauren Dupont, Anna Wintour

WHAT WE THOUGHT: The season was very much an extension of what Vera did for Pre-Fall. There was an emphasis on day wear, tailoring, sporty underpinnings, and dresses with gossamer layers and gobs of sequins and beading. Vera likes to dress in slouchy black pants, and this legging has become a house signature. She showed them in charcoal heather cotton jersey, which are perfect for everyday (and may be-dare we dream?--affordable). The show looked very much like Vera's wardrobe. Pants for day (with oversize jackets) and for night (with an ivory one-sleeve bustier or teal draped tunic). The dresses were beautiful too-but you can tell that right now, tailoring and separates, are where her heart is at.
