We're living in a material world, so why not wear clothes by the Material Girl?

Well, it's only a matter of time. Word is that Madonna may soon be launching a women's collection.

According to Women's Wear Daily, the apparel, intimates (of course!) and footwear collection would be sold exclusively at Macy's stores, and label names under consideration are reportedly, the obvious "Material Girl" for the clothes, and the apropos "Truth or Dare" for her lingerie and undergarments line.

We'd like to toss "Blonde Ambition" and "Express Yourself" into the ring.

The pop icon is in talks to launch the collection with a group of licensees that would be sold exclusively at Macy's, according to sources. Iconix Brand Group Inc., a brand management firm who owns and licenses brands including Candie's, London Fog, Rocawear and Badgley Mischka is involved in the negotiations, according to the paper.

As of now, none of the parties involved are commenting, but WWD says a deal is close to being signed.

There's little doubt surrounding Madonna's selling power. The star has modeled in many campaigns -- including her current one for Dolce & Gabbana, and her M by Madonna label was sold at H&M stores in Spring of 2007.

And, honestly, if consumers are willing to buy designs from Jessica Simpson, we suspect a Madonna line will be Causing a Commotion. Maybe it'll even land on the pages of Vogue. Sorry, we'll stop now.

Here's one Madonna ensemble, however, we hope won't hit the retail racks.

To LMantz:::You sound like a typical whining YENTA..Go cut up your card see who cares. Im sure you are the type of person the goes out buys things, wears them then returns them anyway. Macy's will come out ahead without the like of someone like YOU...Typical whiner...

Her line for H&M was terrific. I have a dress from it that I still get compliments on. Overall, I think she has a powerful brand and a unique style which will continue to translate into success for each of the clothing lines she launches. I'm looking forward to see what she has to offer this time around.

Terry Lundgreen (President/CEO)of Macys has lost his mind with this one. The woman is anything but worth the space she and the branding agency would demand to place her crap. Remember JoLO--isn't it gone? Remember Pamela Anderson, isn't it gone. I for one believe that 70% of the "star power" names are not worth the retail $ and space. Donald Trump--Macy's has cut way back on this name in men's. Tommy Hilger-a designer so to speak is also wanning. Come on Mr. L, it's time to go another route.

WHAT!!!! HAS MACY'S LOST IT'S MIND. I GUESS HAVING A "STUPID CELEB" WILL BE A KUDO FOR THEM BUT IT REALLY SEEMS LIKE THEY WILL BE LOWERING THEIR STANDARDS. I GUESS I WILL NOT BE SHOPPING THERE ANY MORE!!!!

Even Macy's is not above scraping the bottom of the barrel these days to generate sales. Imagine, a class store like that hooking up with a SKANK like Madonna. If this goes down I'll personally end my 20+ years of shopping there. UnF---ing believeable!

I think the author of this article needs to do some research. Stop referring to Madonna as the material girl I think that song belongs to Cindy Lauper! Madonna is out she is like Norma Desmond!!

Madonna has never been known for great style... she's just kind of "out there." Why would Macy's want to associate with someone like that?

I love Madonna but I hope that this isn't just another shot at commercialism and cheaply-made clothes with a famous person's name on them (read: H&M collection). I'm really hoping that it will reflect Madonna's style.
