WHAT WE THOUGHT: Narciso Rodriguez is a master of his craft: he can drape and fit like nobody's business. Many of Rodriguez's standard themes, like body -conscious tailoring, seaming, cut-outs, and clean minimal lines happen to be major trends right now, putting Rodriguez ahead of the game. For Fall he focused on asymmetry and mixed media, showing powdery silks, textural shearling, angora, sheeny neoprene, and flannel. There was a touch of Woody Allen's "Sleeper" in the clinical white bubble shapes, and a hint of David Lynch's "Dune" in his use of thick wood sequins and distressed bronze studs. New for Fall was a softness to the peekaboo looks, with draped silk softly revealing the sides of models' bodies, not normally a focal point in fashion--until now. You're sure to find them being test driven on the red carpet by Rodriguez's ardent Hollywood fans.
