WHAT WE THOUGHT: Amy Smilovic's Fall 2010 line continues on her best traditions -- how is it that the same Tibi dress can look just right on a 40-something and on a 20-something, as well? Her clothes combine youthful sparkle with sophisticated simplicity, both in the perfect measure. This collection included several nubby or chunky sweaters (or were they coats?) often paired with rich brown belts.

It reminded me a bit of what I envisioned college girls wearing when I wasn't one yet, but the sweaters made me want to wear the ensembles to the office now. Signature print cocktail dresses and several pieces with "tile beads" -- which looked liked square sequins -- were pleasing. And while the 40-somethings among us should probably not try to get away with the winter shorts in the collection, they were nonetheless cute without being cutesy. Notable: A much more colorful runway than most this season.
