TOP LOOKS: A pine-colored flannel dress with a silk mesh shirt with leather trim; ecru embroidered sweater with cotton poplin shirt and high-waisted printed cotton twill pants (these came in white with black or black with electric blue); delicious pea coats and cropped jackets with elbow patches; blue, green, and black plaid jacquard coat with fur collar; silk jacquard dresses in yellow and silver respectively; unexpected bits of fur including an long-haired black fox sweater and black alpaca shorts

ACCESSORIES: Super high clog-like platform booties created that have a new, thick updated heel created by the duo's own in-house swat accessories team; updated versions of the PS1 via rectangular saddlebags with long straps and boxier handbags with chain handles in white, green, black; thin belts in black and bright orange

WHAT WE THOUGHT: Whether you're a downtown darling or an uptown lady who lunches, Proenza Schouler can accommodate your closet. The dashing design duo, now in their eighth year, have become seasoned pros at delivering the interesting pieces that their art world crowd loves without sacrificing wearability.

The show kicked off on a traditional note with a navy boiled wool jacket with wooden toggles but, being as cool as they are, the boys paired it with a pair of twill cotton pants that looked as though there were originally white, painted black, and then erased until they were almost all white again. Cotton poplin shirts, buttoned all the way to the neck, were worn underneath cashmere sweaters or a double faced wool jacket. Turtlenecks, silk crop tops, and short pleated striped skirts also layered into the looks to help create schoolgirl charm with a twist.

Fur was done in a creatively constructed into a black fox sweater and black angora shorts with leather pockets. Meanwhile a long black cashmere pea coat was given white leather varsity-style sleeves and a elongated fur collar.

At the end, a new series of updated babydoll dresses emerged. They bore a refreshingly new silhouette compared to all of the hard '80s power dressing that we've been seeing. Long-sleeved, the thigh-skimming frocks had mesh paneling on the chest and fanned out to an A-line formation from the rib cage.

The leggy front row glitterati certainly took notice as they went by.
