Three years ago, fashion and beauty journalist and StyleList contributor Karen Robinovitz had a dream.
She dreamt of a fabulous beauty product that would also make her life easier. After a few years of of gritty determination and unglamorous hard work (all in six-inch-heels) she created Purple Lab's Huge Lips Skinny Hips, a lip-plumping gloss infused with appetite suppressant hoodia.
Now, less than a year later, Robinovitz's next and biggest dream is about to come true -- she's adding five new double-duty products to the Purple Lab line and she's launching them on HSN.
When asked why HSN, Robinovitz said, "Even though it's 30 years old, it's the most modern forum for shopping. You get an audience of 30 million people and you can convey your message in the best way possible." We must admit, she makes a lot of sense.
With five primetime, live TV spots scheduled, this fashionista has a lot of preparing to do. "I've done live TV before, but this is totally different. I flew down to Florida and we did a casting for the models and talked about the way the set would look. And I learned a lot about how to do the on-camera sharing on what I'm most passionate about in the world." When asked about all the costume changes she'll be doing? As of this interview, she was still undecided on what wear, but we're willing to bet there will be Louboutins and just a few hints of purple.
The five new Purple Lab products include double-duty versions of foundation, lip gloss/stain, cream blush, highlighter/concealer and mascara/liquid liner. These will be sold exclusively via HSN, and, like Huge Lips Skinny Hips, they've got blockbuster names to match. The best part about these fab five? They all work overtime to deliver major benefits to your skin, because as Robinovitz says, modern women just don't have time to use six products on each body part.
