Beauty industry experts have been praising Twilight costars Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson - who are also a rumored celeb couple - for forsaking the Hollywood pressure to go tan and instead celebrate in their naturally pale tones.
Why the big deal?
An estimated 1 million new skin cancer cases were diagnosed in 2009 in the USA alone, according to the National Cancer Institute. Experts credit the handsome couple with making it "cool" to skip the tan by stepping out on the red carpet in all their pale glory.
"People have to want to resemble the individual giving the message. If that image comes in vogue, then people will follow suit and ultimately that could be better for people's skin," Dr. Raj Mallipeddi told the UK Daily.
Eric Jimenz of Urban Decay Cosmetics agrees. "Due to films such as Twilight, people see that pale skin can still be sophisticated, timeless and glamorous."
And if you're a pale porcelain princess yourself, try one of the red lips seen at New York's Fall 2010 Fashion Week for a piece of that classic Marilyn Monroe allure.
