Launched today alongside the magazine's March "Power Issue," the premise of Vogue Stylist (tagline: "Your closet, styled by Vogue") is to assist users in styling their wardrobes by uploading pictures of items they already own and allowing the app to mix and match those pieces with of-the-moment monthly picks from the Vogue staff along with products from Vogue's advertisers.
The content will be updated monthly in conjunction with each issue's release on newsstands. The March debut of the app will highlight fashion and beauty trends including the trench, the floaty dress, tribal, natural shades and the bright lip.
App users can also shop any of the looks -- 91 brands and 600 products are featured now -- straight from their phones or locate the closest store that sells the items, as well as share favorite styles via Facebook.
You will also be able to unlock exclusive content from the current issue by taking an iPhone picture of select ads which will result in special event invitations, product sampling offers, shopping discounts and exclusive videos.
Brands with "locked content" for March include Gucci, Hudson Jeans, Kate Spade, Nine West (receive 20% off products featured in the app), Valentino, Via Spiga and Longchamp Paris (500 CDs created by Spring/Summer 2010 campaign star Kate Moss are being given away).
"This new app is a perfect example of how Vogue provides advertisers the opportunity to maximize their connection to our reader with an interesting and organic approach," Susan Plagemann, the VP and Publisher of Vogue, said in a statement.
"It gives users a personalized interactive experience that allows them to apply Vogue's point of view on the trends to their wardrobes on a daily basis."
Vogue Stylist, which is available for free at the iTunes App Store, was developed with gaming expert Ocean and marks Conde Nast's 11th iPhone app.
