'Alice in Wonderland' Steals Beauty Trends from Fall 2010 Runways

As children, we loved escaping down the long rabbit hole of Lewis Carroll's "Alice in Wonderland" and falling into a whimsical fairytale full of possibilities. And as adults, we are still in love with the peculiar characters that overtake our dreams.

So, when Organix (the creators behind the "Alice in Wonderland" inspired Cherry Blossom Ginseng shampoo and conditioner) invited StyleList to attend a screening of Tim Burton's 3-D interpretation of the children's classic, we went mad!

With a star-studded cast that includes Mia Wasikowska as Alice, Anne Hathaway as the White Queen, Johnny Depp as the Mad Hatter, and Helena Bonham Carter as the White Queen, Burton stirs up a cinematic phenomena brewing with trippy makeup and hair that reminded us of looks from the Fall 2010 runways.

Read on for our head-to-head beauty analysis of "Alice in Wonderland's" Red and White Queens.

Alice in Wonderland Red Queen Marni Fall 2010 Runway Show

All hail the queen! Helena Bonham Carter's Red Queen hair and makeup is similar to this model from Marni's Fall 2010 Runway Show. Photos: Disney | AP

Helena Bonham Carter gives a riveting performance as the Red Queen caked in white face powder, baby blue eyeshadow, and her signature heart pout. And when her royal highness flashed across the screen donning sky-high, wavy tendrils, we instantly thought of the models from Marni's Fall 2010 show during Milan Fashion Week.

Alice in Wonderland White Queen Proenza Schouler Fall 2010 Runway Show

Like staring into a looking glass: Anne Hathaway's White Queen is a spitting image of this model from Proenza Schouler's Fall 2010 Runway Show. Photos: Disney | AP

The delicate nature of Anne Hathaway came into play as she pranced around Wonderland as the very pale White Queen. Donning strong brows and dark lips, Hathaway looked like she was fresh off the Proenza Schouler fall runway.

Do you think it's a coincidence or ahead of the trends?

"Alice in Wonderland" opens in theaters this Friday on March 5.

Since shooting of "Alice in Wonderland" finished in December 2008, it's unlikely that the film copied trends that were created over a year later. It's much more likely that the influence went in the other direction.
