First, Rimmel is looking to add some spice to its spokesmodel line up.
The Brit bargain brand announced today that actress Zooey Deschanel, singer and sister-to-Beyonce Solange Knowles and Puerto Rican model Alejandra Ramos Munoz are the newest faces of the line. The trio join Kate Moss, Georgia May Jagger and Coco Rocha as Rimmel London spokeswomen, reports WWD today.
While the Coty-owned beauty line is a runaway hit in the UK and USA and is sold at stores like Wal-mart, Walgreens and CVS, execs are looking to expand its reach into markets like Latin America, India, China and Japan.
"At a time of extraordinary worldwide growth for the brand, these three strong, successful and uniquely beautiful women will help ensure that Rimmel London's image continues to be modern and globally relevant," says Renato Semerari, President of Coty Beauty.
Meanwhile, industry insiders say that French actress Mélanie Thierry will lead the print campaign for the YSL's new fragrance that is set to launch later this year. But that hasn't been the only exciting moment to pop up for the Kate Moss look-alike blonde this year.
The 28 year-old model-turned-actress was just awarded her country's version of an Academy Award - a César - last Saturday for best up-and-coming female actress for her role in Le Dernier Pour La Route. Thierry most recently crossed over to Hollywood with her role as Aurora in 2008's Babylon A.D.
And if you dig foreign films, expect to see more of the actress soon; Thierry is currently filming the lead role in La Princess de Montpensier, which is a period piece based on the 1662 short story by Madame de La Fayette that details the love story and tragic fate of a French heiress caught between a duke and prince during the religious wars of 1562.
