Perhaps taking a cue from the most recent ready-to-wear collections in Paris, a smattering of actresses at this evening's Academy Awards wore metallic dresses.

Best Actress winner Sandra Bullock chose an embroidered column by Marchesa; Cameron Diaz opted for crystalized frock by Oscar de la Renta; and last year's big winner, Kate Winslet, exhibited pared down elegance in Yves Saint Laurent. The gowns chosen by the latter two were also strapless - which happened to be another reoccurring trend.

Bare shoulders were also seen on the likes of Julianne Moore (in a silvery Calvin Klein) as well as Amanda Seyfried (in Armani Privé) and Miley Cyrus (in Jenny Packham). Both of the younger actresses accessorized with stacked bangles, too.
