As shocking as it may seem, bald can be beautiful. And that has never been more true after The Frisky spotted one such model who recently kicked off Lakme Fashion Week Summer/Resort 2010 in Mumbai. Not only did she rock the runway, she rocked it bald!

We all remember Demi Moore revealing her shaved head as Lt. Jordan O'Neil in "G.I. Jane." She wowed us with her seriously buff bod, but it was her bald head that really had people turning theirs. Natalie Portman also went all-out for her role in "V for Vendetta" when her head was shaved on screen -- luckily, they got it right the first time!

While many women have proven that being bald is hot, others have not (ahem, "Britney"?). Some say the pop star shaving her own head was a reaction to the stress of raising two kids and a failed marriage; others believe it was a publicity stunt. Either way, we can probably all agree it was a definite hair don't.

So what makes some women able to pull this look off?

It's all in the shape of your face, says Moulay Yacoubi of the Pierre Michel Salon in New York. "You would need to have an oval or heart shaped face," he said. "It helps to have clear skin and strong symmetrical features, too, since the face will be the focal point."

Moulay warns that going bald is not for everyone, so don't break out the razor just yet. "This look is extreme, so it requires someone with a lot of moxie and a rocker edge. It's definitely not for the faint of heart and most people would look much better and more stylish with a short haircut that flatters their face rather than a totally bald look."

He adds, "For women who are losing hair due to chemotherapy, shaving the head can be a bold, beautiful statement. For most people, though, I'd strongly advise against it. I always advise my clients to settle on a classic, flattering hairstyle rather than a momentary trend because beautiful hair never goes out of style."

Still want to try the bald look? Don't attempt to cut it yourself.

Moulay says its best to place the task in the hands of a professional who can assess whether this is the right choice for you. For most people though, he says a pixie cut is a much better option!

I did it! Shaved off all the hair to raise money for St Baldricks. If you go to the web site, I've got pictures posted.

I absolutely love my skint head. I'm able to take a 5 minute shower, I can be outside in the wind, no more bed head. I've gotten some strange looks, but I don't care.

I did what I did for the kids. Besides, it made my heart feel really good for the 1st time in a long time.

If a woman wants to do this, fine. But a woman's hair IS beautiful and sensuous, and I'd be ill if my wife ever shaved her head to *symbolize* her concern over some cause. Even an average-looking woman with long hair becomes beautiful, in my eyes.

I went bald for the heck of it 2 days ago. People do look at me long and hard or don't dare to look at me at all.. It's still a bit strange, but this, for me, was something I had to do at least once in my life.

You can't hide behind your hair if you do it and it makes you have to walk tall and proud. I just see it as a great social project which makes you look at yourself how you really are, and learn about other people's reactions, how some look at me in horror and some stop to tell me it's awesome!

I must admit that I look stunning with it. I'd never guessed but I seem to have the right shaped head and face! Pairing it with long wicked earrings and my big sunnies, it makes me feel like the hottest girl in town!

I shaved my head 5 days ago. I have really thin hair, and I felt so self concious about it. Now that I have done it, I actually look at my face now, and see past the thin hair. I have a wig, but I am getting to that point where I am not as self concious about it, and I may be ready to step out in public without it.

Steve, I absolutely agree with you! A woman with a shaved head can be incredibly sexy. I think the model in the picture definitely is. And there are many famous examples: Demi Moore, Persis Khambatta, model Eve Salvail, India.Arie, and many more. They rock this look!

I love the bald look on a beautiful woman. You can so easily see her feminine features.
I am married to a beautiful bald woman who is bald with alopecia universalis. I love it when she dolls herself up in a sexy dress, makeup, some long dangle earrings with her beautiful bald look. It iscool that some women fashion models, women singers, etc. are wearing the bald look. It is becoming a fashion style for women.

I'm a cancer survivor,so I know a thing or two about being bald.I lost all my hair during chemo and the whole time I loved the way my bald head looked and never wore a hat or wig.My hair has long since grown back, but recently I had my head shaved and I'm now bald by choice and I LOVE IT! I have huge, big ears that stick out from my head and I was tired of wearing my hair longer than I want to just to cover my ears when I'd rather be bald.As the stylist buzzed everything off all the way down to my bare scalp,it felt liberating and I loved every minute of it knowing that my hair will never be coming back.My husband finished the job with a razor and shave cream and we shave each other's heads daily since he is also bald.I display my bald head openly all the time with pride and I now wear large earrings just to make my big ears more noticeable. My hair is gone forever and ever and I'm now completely bald for the rest of my life and I couldn't be any happier.Hair is so overrated.I don't want it anymore. If in doubt, chop it all off, bald is beautiful!!
