Kate Gosselin has become quite the hair chameleon.

The reality TV mom was spotted last night with her "Dancing with the Stars" partner, Tony Dovolani, at Nobu restaurant in New York City with a new short haircut.

The sleeker bob comes just a few months later after she rang in the New Year with an entirely new hairstyle -- adding hair extensions and bangs and leaving behind her iconic "Jon and Kate Plus Eight" reverse mullet.

Celebrity hair stylist Ted Gibson, who perfected Gosselin's new 'do with colorist Jason Backe, believes the look is both sophisticated and chic.

"This is the best direction for her at the moment," said Gibson. "She starts 'Dancing with the Stars' in a few weeks so this is her 'getting ready to go' look for the show."

To achieve a lustrous shine, Gibson used his Build It Blow Drying Agent and Hairsheet Styling products, which he believes are perfect for blondes on-the-go. He finished the look with Beautiful Hold Hairspray.

Gibson told RadarOnline that the short haircut is simply a transition style before Gosselin goes back to the extensions and brightens up her strands with a three-blend custom hair color.

"We're actually doing three different shades of blonde, a caramel, a beige blond and a little bit of a lighter blonde," he told RadarOnline. "The extensions will last through the whole time she's on the show."

What do you think about Gosselin's new (but temporary) haircut? Does she look better with hair extensions?

What's the matter, don't want a woman to be able to support her children? Women bash women, that's why we are still in the dark ages when it comes to everything, jobs, equal pay, etc. Why don't women for once in their lives, maybe support some woman other than the ones in their own circle. Circle the wagons ladies, we're under siege or has no one noticed?

Doesn't anyone else besides me find it extremely curious and almost diabolical that AOL has "Disabled" comments for important subjects of National Interest, and now only offers comments on trash diversion subjects like this!? Isn't also curios that this took place almost immediately after citizen opposition to Washington DC and Barrack Obama began to significantly mount!!! AOL is censoring FREE SPEECH among it's users and the Citizens of the USA wishing to make their voices heard. SHAME on AOL!!!! SHAME on You for being outright oppressive, and playing ball to such tripe and Dogma in Washington DC!!!!!

Mark, you're right on!! Every time there's an article about something political in nature, I scroll down to make a comment and get that business about how they're devising a better way for readers to respond. That's garbage!! I'm no computer guru and I could have done that in 30 days or less. This has been going on for way too long. I think you're right, they don't want the negative comments about Obama and the Liberals that invariably will come. Thanks for bringing this injustice to everybody's attention!!

Mark, I totally agree! In fact, I was asking myself if anyone is noticing AOL trying to silence American opinion on real issues. I'm glad to see that others are taking notice. The "coming soon, new commenting experience" is just a ruse. It would sound really bad if AOL said "due to the number of objectors, we decided to silence the majority buy shutting off the comment board!"

All comments from the general public need to be checked and censored when appropriate. Most people don't want to see a lot of foul language from stooges who aren't capable of having an opinion. The type who used to call 911 with a fake emergency before caller I.D. was invented.

Much better--guess she doesn't want 'fly-a-way' hair while she is dancing on "Stars". Cute do, though. Classy.

I, for one, am sick and tired of hearing women cry about not having enough time, enough money, enough blah, blah, blah. If you can't handle 3 kids, don't have 3 kids. I had 4 children and a husband that was no help at all. I went to school, then worked full-time, we had family dinners, got haircuts, weekly visits to the orthodonist, dance lessons, 3 of them graduated college. Women want everything men have and yet all they do is cry and complain. I'm sure my post will be frowned on, but come on ladies. If you can't handle work and kids, then don't do one of those things.

Who cares about her hair. I agree she has to work now. I have 4 kids that are very active. I havent had my hair cut in a salon in 4 years. I have to do mine when I have the time when my kids go to bed. That is like every couple of months. Where are the kids. Never hear about them. Just the nonsense goings on of two ignorant people who care only about their upkeep and pathetic lives.

I dont like it. The length falls at an unflattering point on her face, making her look harsh and older. I liked the lenth it was just before this cut. Midway between the long extensions and the short do.
But the story does say that this was in preperation for her to get new extensions that she'll be wearing throughout the Dancing show.
