Here, the W girls recount the haute happening.
Last night was the kick-off party for Aspen Fashion Week, sponsored by W magazine at the Brexi Brasserie in the Dancing Bear Lodge. The party-goers celebrated in great spirits as they bounced back and forth between the restaurant and the rooftop.
Perhaps it was the sunny-weather weekend or the apple vodka drinks or the cameras firing off in all directions, but nobody seemed to mind that they were socializing elbow to elbow.
The stunning Lauren Bush mingled with her signature Aspen Fashion Week FEED bag; Christian Siriano chatted on a plush sofa for Plum TV; and the collective height (and attention) of the crowd grew several stiletto inches when the models arrived. Aspen has always been synonymous with fashion, from the first ski run to last call. Last night, we were not let down.
A pair of furry black boots walked in, and we were pleased to learn that the knee-high furs were in fact leg warmers paired with a black bootie.
On other occasions, the fashionista informed us, she gathers the fur around her ankle with a variety of high heels. Love the inventive approach to convertible footwear!
The accessory of the night was, hands down, an alligator clutch with Brazilian agate designed by Paige Gamble (she's HQ'ed in New York), who also happened to be wearing the hottest purple Luca Luca vest and Fendi bustier.
And if you happened to be looking for M.C. Vaughan yesterday evening, you could not miss her in a sparkling electric blue cocktail dress from her B'Jewel Aspen boutique.
Upstairs, the room smelled luxuriously fragrant of L'eau Serge Lutens, and between that and the fireplace, one would be tempted to take the night to the next level -- in the hot tubs outside. And that was only the eve of AFW. Setting out now for Day One!
Stay tuned for more mile high style.
