Katherine is a 65-year-old retired music teacher who has had three kids - including twins! - and has a bit of a belly. In this episode of "My Body, My Style" stylist Sam Saboura provides an outfit that helps to conceal her midsection.

Do you have the same concern? Sam recommends layers to cover up full tummies including pieces that add structure like a blazer or sweater with a boxier shoulder.

To say that Katherine was thrilled with her new look would be an understatement. "I didn't know jeans could look like this," she exclaims.

Whether you're pear shaped, have a long torso, or are full-figured, you won't want to miss the rest of our tips for finding the best clothes for your shape, in the "My Body, My Style" series.

My stomach is larger than hers,, if I wear the jeans that sit below waist,, the fat all rolls on top,, nothing hides it except long, loose shirts.

Nice if you live in the north. But how do you conceal middle age spread in the hot humid south? 9 months out of the year it's too hot to wear layers! and like Susan said, these mid rise jeans only cause muffin top. How many rolls do ya want with those denims Mr Fashion hot shot?

I am a stylist as well.
There are lots of ways to combat heat & humidity in tropical climates & still conceal.
By the way this is a tip for both men & women who have expanded waistlines.
It is important to stick with natural fibers in this kind of climate.. Synthetics will melt you down.
Start with a pure cotton tank top in a darker color than the shirt you will be wearing.
The tank should be tucked INTO your pants ( or skirt) the shirt left out. Try for a shirt that has a straight seam with side vents at the bottom. A shirt that is TOO long will make you look short waisted.Invest in GOOD fitting shirts that dont bunch or gather.
Look for pure cotton or other pure fabrics that have a slight sheen & say WRINKLEFREE on the label. This not only saves you work, but in humid conditions lets you stay fresher looking longer during the day.
It goes without saying that the more breathable the fabric the more comfortable you will feel. Look for lightweight gauzy resort styles with LONG short sleeves ( just above elbow)
Most important when trying on things in dressing rooms remember----if u dont feel totally great in the mirror---dont bring the itams to the register. Trust me you WONT grow to love them & will never wear them.

I am SO waiting for the day someone in the 'fashion' industry wakes up and realizes that not everyone who wears jeans is 19 years old and 2 pounds on the far side of anorexic! I used to have a minor meltodown when I went shopping for new jeans and found mostly midrise denim, that was until the midrise jeans got kicked to the curb by the lowrise. I didn't think it could get any worse so I waited a few months and went shopping again thinking the shopping trip would be better because surely someone in the industry would have noticed all of the women, young and old, walking around with the muffin tops from lowrise jeans and belly bulge...two things that definitely DO NOT go well together. My surprise at the store quickly turned to despair when most of the jeans were labeled 'ultra lowrise'. Seriously???? I cannot be the only person who flat out refuses to wear jeans that don't cover my bum. Belly bulge?! There is absolutely no reason to worry about belly bulge when the jeans sold today don't come anywhere near your belly, they stop just above the crotch. I used to, and still do come to think of it, think the guys who wore their jeans riding UNDER their butts looked ridiculous. The emperor penguin walk they had to adopt, to keep their pants from falling off as they hobbled along trying to look cool, was only part of the amusement factor. Karma must be biting me in the butt now, as I pause every few steps to tug my midrise jeans as high up on my butt as I possibly can. Plea to the fashion industry, midrise, lowrise and even ultra lowrise jeans are fine for anyone and everyone who wants to wear them, even when the mirror is screaming 'don't do it girl' as they walk out of their house. BUT, and no pun intended, please give US the option. This season and every other one too, include the good old fashioned jeans, remember them back at the beginning of all this craziness they used to be labeled; 'sits at the natural waist'.

Thank you Margaret for my chuckle this morning with your comment of: "19 years old and 2 pounds on the far side of anorexic!" I am 64 years old, but still probably considered that 2 pounds away from anorexic (not by choice), at of ranging from about 92 - 98 lbs (had always been my normal weight from school, to about a year ago and now ranges from the 98 to 101, depending on how much crap I eat a day and usually is a lot! I have to eat many desserts and treats, just to "maintain" this weight. I have always been extremely thin, that too, of meaning no boobs or butt! I get extremely depressed when I "have" to go shopping for clothes and absolutely hate doing so (a man's dream of a woman that hates to shop), as I cannot find clothes small enough to fit me. What does one do when a zero or an extra, extra small is too large, unless you go into the children's department a get a dress with "my little pony" on the front of it! And to look sexy in that Victoria Secret's undies....you have got to be kidding! When my girls were of their teenage years, they loved going with me to buy the under garments and the only bra that fit me was..."My First Bra". You better believe I passed on that one and continued to wear the one I had that you could fold over in half!!! I still have that flat stomach, but it isn't all it is cracked up to be when you cannot find clothes that fit you! A heavier person can always find something, but the next time any of you go shopping, take a gander of what is available in that extra small size and "IF" anything, look at the age group that it is styled for...certainly not a 65 year old. Now, I am going to go get me a donut to go with my coffee!!!! One thing that I do find, is not to buy the "trendy" clothes, but stick with the basic styles that are the best look for you. Have a great day all.

How about some sit ups and diet and get rid of that gut. Instead of hiding it.

She stated that she's had 3 children (one a set of twins) and more than one abdominal surgery!!! The muscles don't always bounce back-especially if you've had 2 Cesearean sections and 2 abdominal surgeries such as myself. Sit-ups will only rupture the hernias that were 'repaired'. So.......what should one do? According to draconis, sit ups and diet. How draconian! LOL Life happens and we need to learn to love ourselves, because, at the end of the day, who should truely love us unconditionally, besides God? Ourselves!

I cannot listen to one word this guy says because he uses the word "tummy" for stomach. Why do people do that? We are not children...tummy is a word mothers use when talking to their toddlers. It's not a word an adult uses when talking to another adult. I guess this is supposed to sound "cute" but to me it's merely disgusting. Please stop using the word "tummy" unless you are talking to a two-year old!!!

OK - here is how I, a 10 lbs. overweight middle aged woman, dress.

Winter: whatever jeans or slacks fit well and are comfortable. Mid-rise, whatever. Over them: a longish sweater or tunic to cover up the whole "tummy". I do not tuck anything in as am very short-waisted. I can live with a muffin top as long as something covers it up! Hip length is perfect.

Summer: a tank top with a cute short sleeved blouse worn as a jacket. Again, not tucked in, too hot, and I'm too short-waisted. Coordinating shorts, skort, capris, or a cute skirt. I have a dozen different white shirts, cotton, lace trimmed, seersucker, linen...that I find at the thrift stores if I can't find anything in a regular store. NO POLYESTER, it is VERY hot. ... When it's really hot, I wear sleeveless sundresses, mostly chambray or denim, I find tight shorts too uncomfortable. I wear a cute blouse as a jacket with the sundress, avoid the gut bulge altogether.

Margaret, I couldn't have said it better--I totally agree! I keep waiting for these low-waisted pants to go away. They're so unflattering on anyone other than a skinny teenager, and also terribly uncomfortable, with the waistband cutting into one's pelvis. I hate having to constantly tug at them as they ride down. (I should add that I'm 64 and not over weight--I wear a size 6.) I stick with the only jeans I've ever found that fit me and are flattering--Lauren by Ralph Lauren, which actually sit at one's waist, and come in various washes and colours, and several different lengths as well as petite and "women's" sizes. They're reasonably priced, and frequently are available on sale at Lord and Taylor. I've also worn L.L. Bean's chinos for my entire life, so I was appalled last year when they changed the fit to a more "modern" look (meaning lower-waisted). Well, guess what? So many women must have complained that Bean re-thought this idea, and recently sent out an e-mail to their customers announcing that they have re-issued the old style, available online only.

Suzannji, thanks so much for the tips. I really, REALLY dislike going to the mall but I am planning a trip to Scottsdale so I can give the Lauren jeans a try. Who would have ever thought that in this country you would not be able to find a pair of jeans that are comfortble and you actually like! Jeans have been a staple in my wardrobe since I was a college freshman and I never envisioned a day where I would be in danger of flashing my 'no no' zone because my jeans were cut so low! I would love to be able to make the claim that I am not overweight but I wear a size 10 jeans and according to the fashion industry that means I am an 'extra large', go figure. I mean how does that work, when the average american woman wears a size 12? I stopped applying logic to women's clothes when they came out with size 0, how can a person wear a 0? If I remember all the math I was taught, 0 meant there was nothing. If Johnny had 3 apples and he ate one apple and gave 2 apples to Mary how many apples are left. The teacher always said the answer was 0, there wasn't anything left. But even a 0 is too large for some as I have been in the dressing room and heard young girls, always very young girls with no children, complaining that the 0 was too large. I received a reply to my comment from Kayelynne who got a chuckle from my comment about '2 pounds on the far side of anorexic' who wanted me to consider the plight of the women who are thin by nature rather than design. She pointed out the trials and tribulations they suffer not being able to find clothes which fit and were not designed for very young children. I guess it is hard to walk that mile in another women's pants when you are wandering through a mall trying to find something that fits, looks good on you and is comfortable. I never had to worry about maintaining my weight OVER 100 pounds, my problem was always trying to lose an extra hundred. I finally lost it and battle every day to make sure I never have to fight that war again! Hopefully, Ralph Lauren jeans will stretch to fit this size 10, a size that I am very proud of, 'extra large' be damned. I may even give the Bean chinos a try, even though I really prefer denim with the 2% spandex. I know Target is a far cry from Lord & Taylor Suzannji, but they carry Merona jeans with spandex sewn in the waistband which works perfectly in stopping the gap at the back of your jeans! The jeans are not the pull on elastic waistband style, they still have the zipper and button and I am now a fan. Bu, midrise is the best you will find in this selection...but at least they stay where they start out, you don't spend the day tugging them up or down.

Love it! Where can I buy a pair of those jeans. They sound perfect, not to low cut and not to high either. I'm sold on that look.
