Last night Cole Haan drew taste makers in the form of editors, social swans, and bloggers to the posh New York City eatery 10 Downing to fete its spring 2010 ad campaign. Leading the charge was portrait and interiors photographer Todd Selby, who snapped the ads featuring real people (that he helped to cast) in their "Inspired Life" settings.

"I've shot advertisements but never a full campaign before," he said amid a sea of editors including Horacio Silva from T Magazine, Christopher Tennant of Fashion Week Daily, and Mickey Boardman from Paper. "This was cool because we shot people in their natural environment."

The resulting images feature everyone from tennis great (and part time Cole Haan designer) Maria Sharapova baking cookies in her L.A. kitchen to surfer/shopkeeper Johnny Knapp from Bellport, New York.

Also among Selby's subjects was DJ, student, and international scenester Harley Viera Newton who doubled as the evening's music maestro. "It was great having them shoot at my apartment," she concurred. "I didn't have to go anywhere!"

While shooting in the comforts of home certainly made for happy models, those leaving the intimate fete had reason to rejoice as well. Cole Haan generously bestowed every party-goer with an inspirational gift of their own from the spring collection - dapper shoes for the men and a suede hobo handbag for women.
