"Live Colorfully" is the theme of the new ads featuring a preppy Americana aesthetic -- with a splash of wit -- which has been the hallmark of the Kate Spade brand for 17 years strong.
One set of campaign images depicts a retro-tinged road trip starring a perfectly dressed, Kate Spade-styled brunette (in a waist-cinching polka dot dress and strappy red heels) hanging out by (and on) a slightly less fashionable mustard-colored car parked at the beach.
The other image, which is also accompanied by a whimsical video on KateSpade.com, shows a pastel-hued scene with a model carrying a pinwheel in front of a fence decorated with hundreds of the whirling wind-catchers.
If those pinwheels -- which show up in all of the Spring 2010 ads -- make you twinge with nostalgia, you'll be happy to hear that the Kate Spade crew is giving away the classic childhood toy in New York City this weekend.
