He's broadening Lauder's color range -- which used to be heavier on neutrals -- with vibrant hues for fall that are heavily pigmented, in colors and textures that will go head to head with brands known for fashion-oriented, high impact colors like M.A.C., Nars, and Make Up For Ever.
"Makeup is such a fashion accessory - I'd like to highlight that part of the brand, and also bring a playful touch to the franchise," Pecheux said when he started at Lauder in November of 2009.
Pecheux's new colors were first seen on the runway at Derek Lam's Fall 2010 show, which marked Estée Lauder's debut fashion week collaboration, and helped point the brand in a more fashion forward direction with Pecheux at the helm. Backstage was a testing ground for the Pure Color line, where Pecheux used the vibrant navy blue and sparkling copper from the line to create the cowgirl-inspired eyes

"I've always thought that eye shadow brings women self-confidence and power," Pecheux told WWD.
The first Pecheux-designed products to hit stores will be Pure Color Glosses in June. You'll get your first glimpse of Lauder's True Vision technology in these beauties.
"The pigments are wrapped in a crystal-like coating, which results in intense, shiny color," said Elana Drell Szyfer, senior vice president of global marketing for Estée Lauder. Along with vitamins C and E and conditioning humectants, the 34 shades will come in shine, shimmer and metallic versions and will cost $20 each.
