She became an American hero after winning five Olympic medals, and now Nastia Liukin is taking that title all the way to the bank.

Gymnast Liukin has partnered with Warner Bros. Consumer Products to create Supergirl by Nastia, a collection of girls' sportswear that will be sold exclusively at JCPenney in time for back-to-school shopping in July 2010.

Supergirl by Nastia will feature on-trend apparel that encourages a message of empowerment, creativity, strength, intelligence, and independence -- the symbolic attributes of the iconic Supergirl S-Shield -- and will be marketed to 8- to 12-year-old girls.

"I am so proud to present to girls and moms the Supergirl by Nastia line, which I believe represents not only a fashionable and affordable option, but also communicates an important message of empowerment," Liukin said in a release.

"The Supergirl S-shield is a unique and iconic symbol that has inspired this collection. I believe it will do the same for girls who wear it."

The line will include fleece pieces, dresses and tunics, knit pants, signature Supergirl tees, dancewear, leggings, shrugs, and more with items retailing from $12.99 to $38.

For the past four years, Warner Bros. has been supporting female athletes with the Supergirl Jam, the only large-scale, all-girls action-competition and lifestyle/music festival, where the Supergirl S-Shield has been established as an icon under which today's sports girls unite.

We haven't seen this much mixing of fashion and girl power since Sporty Spice.
