Twiggy on Her New HSN Fashion Line and Embracing Aging

Sixties supermodel Twiggy is not against plastic surgery. But instead of turning to Botox, she's embracing her wrinkles.

"I think getting panicked about aging is not worth it -- I was 60 last year, and it's all part of life. I really think you have to embrace all the different ages," Twiggy tells StyleList.

"I'm very lucky because I'm healthy -- if you're healthy, you've got everything -- and I've got a lovely husband and gorgeous kids."

With such a full life, she doesn't need Botox to keep her young. "I've got friends that have had stuff done and their faces don't move -- especially in L.A. They look like frozen people," she says.

"I'm not going to do Botox. It's poison." She also doesn't understand pumping up your lips. "They look like somebody's punched them," says Twiggy.

That's not to say she's ruling out other procedures. "I have friends that have had things done, and they look like they've been on vacation," she says, adding, "I'm not saying I'm not going to do something. But if you're going to do it, [do] research and get the best people."

For now, Twiggy will stick with her tried-and-true maintenance methods. "I use a heavy, thick English cream, and I have for years. I always take my makeup off -- going to bed with your makeup on is not a good idea.

"I splash myself with water in the morning to wake myself up. I get bags under my eyes when I wake up, so I pop a packet of frozen peas on for 10 minutes, or cold tea bags."

Twiggy was in New York City to preview her new HSN sportswear collection, Twiggy London, which consists of pieces inspired by the greatest hits from Twiggy's own closet.

"We wanted to kick off with what I love," she says. "We did a gypsy skirt because I love gypsy skirts. I wanted to do satin sneakers with velvet laces. The Union Jack bags [see above] are because I love tote bags. The waistcoat [vest] is a version of an old vintage one I have from the 1930s.

"It's come out so beautifully," she says of her line. "I'm thrilled."

The Twiggy London collection, which ranges from $29 to $99, debuts April 3 on HSN and hsn.com.

I'll give HSN a look because I LOVE Twiggy, and I'm old enough that I LOVED her back in the day. I think she's got the right idea about aging (though that may be a marketing device) and is a fine role model for women. Unlike the vomitous Kate Moss, who is only popular with the fashionistas because she shares her huge drug stash with them.

I will also watch because I love Twiggy and was in awe of her all those years ago. She still seems lovely and I would just like to watch because she is on. Her daughter works as an intern for Stella McCartney and the McCartneys and Twiggy have been friends since the 60's. Can't wait to see her.

Ahhhh. When models had (and Twiggy still has) class. Remember when she first came out and was so controversial? I long for those days again, when things were simpler. Good for her.

Is this the "Twiggy" that ran with "Tiny Tim" many years ago? That "Twiggy" if she turned sideways, would disappear. Skinny, skinny, skinny.

Twiggy is just adorable! And she's even older than I am... She was (and still is) tiny, petite - but not anorexic/bony like the models now.

I call BS,Twigs. Why are you lying about your age if you are so determined to age gracefully? if you just turned 60, you would have been only 15 or 16 years old at the apex of your modeling career in 1965-66. No big deal about skimming three to five years off your real age, but it's off-putting to hear you diss people who use botox to achieve the same effect ...

She was born in 1949 and yes, she was a 16 year old in 1965 when she started modeling.

Twiggy uses "a heavy, thick English cream" on her face? Well, I suppose she won't name it if she's not being paid by them to endorse it....but wait a minute, isn't she doing ads for Oil of Olay? Oops, Twiggy....should've remembered whose skin care you're supposed to be plugging!

I believe that you're thinking of Tiny Tim's wife, Miss Vickie. I don't recall him with Twiggy.

Ahh the beginnings of anorexia, the death of many females and later on even males. To all who think they must be like her, her body type is natural and not from starving herself. Please do not try to force your body to be like hers. Stay healthy happy and content with your own physical makeup. She is and always will be a beautiful woman as are all women. Thick, thin, rich, poor, healthy, unhealthy, young, and old no matter what we are all beautiful.

HA HA HA Laurie. Lisa Rina. Yuck. I like Twiggy. I agree, she's that tiny naturally. I never shop HSN, but I will take a look at her line.
