Loose curls are
the chic way to style your strands this spring.
With cascading coils bouncing down the Spring 2010 runways of
Alice + Olivia,
Costello Tagliapietra, and
Timo Weliand, we can't wait to embrace (or enhance) our natural curls this season.
Some of the hottest celebs have already joined the curly coif coalition:
Eva Longoria's reddish-brown ringlets complement her olive skin and pink pout. And
Kate Gosselin embraces the limelight with wispy curls that bring out her three-blend custom hair color.
To mimic
Longoria and
Gosselin's voluminous locks, celebrity stylist
Danielle Caputo suggests using hot rollers. While they may seem intimidating,
hot rollers are a simple and quick way to achieve salon-worthy hair at home. To add curl, she recommends starting at the very end of the section of hair and roll downwards. For a better hold, spritz hair spray onto tresses before rolling the hair into the hot rollers.

Hair Basics: Hot Roller How-to
Hot rollers are easy. Learn how to use them!
Sebastian Mlynarski
These aren't your mother's hot rollers. Today's hot rollers are made for styling your hair quickly and without a blow dryer. They may seem complicated, but hot rollers can actually help save you time when you want to create a refreshed, voluminous style in a jiffy.

Heat hot rollers. Once rollers are sufficiently hot, take sections of the hair that match the hot roller in width. To add volume, roll hair around the hot roller from the base of the hair. To add curl, which hair stylist Danielle Caputo is doing here, start at the very end of the section of hair and roll downward.

Hold the roller in place by fastening the hair with a hot roller clip.

The top of the hair will be sectioned into four rollers total. Grab equal sections of hair and roll them back, fastening each with a clip.

Use smaller rollers on the sides of the head, and roll large sections of hair into three rollers on each side.

To better hold the curls, spray hair with hair spray before rolling the hair into the hot rollers.

Wait about fifteen minutes for the hot rollers to cool down. Gently remove the curlers by unwinding the hair from them and placing the curl on your head so it stays in tact.

Tease hair at the crown for added volume, then spray hair with hair spray to hold the style.

Thanks to hot rollers, now you're got a pretty, polished look - no blow dryer required.
