The Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards are always a spectacle. Though it may seem an unlikely place for us grown-up editors to look for style, we've come to depend on the KCA red carpet for off-the-wall fashion choices on some of the hottest young stars.

This year, Katy Perry wasn't hosting, but you might think she was given all the outfit changes. The super-talented beauty flaunted her body in a strapless, iridescent metallic mini and glittery wedges. We all held our breath hoping the outfit stayed in place, which it mercifully did.

Next, Perry slipped into a body-hugging bright yellow dress with blue flowers and a matching wig. We have a sneaking suspicion that wig was more about function than form, as Perry shortly thereafter found herself being slimed on-stage with some of Nickelodeon's famous green goo.

The wig seemed to do its job and protect Perry's 'do, which looked glossy and perfect when she showed up for the after-party in a low-cut red corset. We're betting fiance Russell Brand was a fan of that one.

The other wacky dresser to catch our eye was, frankly, no surprise. Rihanna hasn't worn anything simple, basic, or predictable in a long time. Here, she performed in a Little Bo Peep meets G.I. Jane getup, including shocking pink puff sleeves and a puffy tulle-stuffed skirt.

Finally, Miley Cyrus looked like she just stopped by to hang out in a simple white tunic top and skinny jeans. Not exactly your typical red carpet outfit, but then again, the Kids' Choice Awards aren't your typical awards show.
