Ready to shed your winter coat for cute shorts and flowery dresses, but Mother Nature just isn't cooperating? Fast forward to warmer weather with a Spring polish shade.

From lights to brights, spring tips are bolder and airier than your winter stand-bys, according to Christine Sy, a nail expert at Exhale Spa. "We will see a lot of light pinks, shimmery whites, and pastels this Spring," Sy says, along with darker brights, including blues, greens and rich corals.

Bare it all in bright colors: Last summer and fall, we saw pops of bright colors everywhere, from neon yellow to hot pink and aqua. This spring, be prepared to keep those bright colors alive and kicking, but mix it up a little with blues and greens. Product Link: OPI Suzi Says Feng Shui, $9.

Look lovely in lavender: For those who want a softer look but can't seem to get enough of the purple, you're in luck. This spring we'll see a range of pretty lavender colors on fingers and toes, as another option for a lighter look. "Lavender is going to be a great compliment to purple toes for sweet looking fingertips, or for someone who wants an all over soft shade for their mani-pedi ," Sy says. Product Link: Essie's Lilalism, $8

Try a coral red: Coral red will also look stunning with all those cute new spring pieces, when we finally out away the turtlenecks and start showing a little more skin. Let's face it who doesn't love a pop of bright color on our nails? Product Link: Essie's Red Nouveau, $8.

Go pale for a soft look: If Spring tends to bring out your softer side, choose a pale hue with a touch of shimmer that'll get just the right amount of attention. A little bit of color and a touch of sparkle can go a long way, and the right pale shade can pair perfectly as the top coat to your French manicure, Sy says. Product Link: OPI Bare to be Different, $9,

Try something daring: Sy says this spring is a prime opportunity to go bold with your nail color. If you have a little daredevil in you, try some of the colors that scream attention. Product Link: OPI's Jade is the new Black, $9

Why must each shade have an involved name? Why can't they just say red or green or whatever? As for preferred brands, try the Sally Hansen line. Some of the best are now discontinued and only available through secondary markets. N.Y.C. colors are something to look into and a lot less expensive than the "in" brands.

Because there are hundreds of different brands of nail polish and they all make thousands of shades that one could call "red". Just calling a color "red" would be very confusing, as all the red polish is different: there are blue reds, yellow reds, true reds, reds with shimmer in them, reds without shimmer in them, sheer reds, opaque reds, you get the picture, I'm sure. And many of these brands make several different shades of red; even in a specific line of colors released each season, there might be three different shades of the same color. This is basically done because not every woman likes or can wear the same one shade.

It's like if you asked for "a slice of pie" or "a drink": what kind of pie would you like, and what would you like to drink? Apple, cherry, blueberry, and so on, water, coffee, scotch on the rocks, and so on. Choices, bb, that's what it's all about.

Of course there are hundreds of colors across almost as many brands. Never said there wasn't. Instead of names, just number everything. Like red #1, etc.As for differentiating between brands, that's a given anyway unless you absolutely don't care about what brand you use.

Again.....nothing but SPAM guised as a reponse to the article!
AOL will undoubtedly Not print my response because of what I am saying, But AOL needs to read responses. They are Trying to "retool" these sections, but again it is'nt working

Sassi...I agree with what you said, but I actually think AOL is censoring comments on certain articles. You'll read one and it will have a comment section...then another (that may be controversial) and it says they're "working on it." I just don't think that's an accident since all the spammers are still hard at work where comments are available.

And just to be OT...I love OPI nail polish. I don't wear polish very often because it makes my nails brittle, but when I do, it's always OPI. I use Flexinail twice a day when not wearing polish to keep my nails healthy and strong....it's the best product I've ever used. And no, that's not an advertisement...just stuff that worked for ME.

I wore the green and blue in the 70's. The green was made popular by Liza Minnelli in the movie Cabaret. All things come back in style after a while.

You can't name every color (and shade) of red, RED!! How would you distinguish between them? Every shade has to have it's own name. This isn't rocket science people!

Why would you have to be brave to try nail polish? It's nail polish. (I know it doesn't say anything about being brave in the article, but the link I clicked on did).

I'm bad to find something I love and stick with it for a long time, and I can't shake my Mabelline Express Finish nail polish addiction. Racing Rubies is my favorite, but there's so many great colors and it doesn't take forever to dry.

I was a Cosmetician once, and it was my job to distinguish the difference in colors for customers because there's no such thing as 'red' or 'pink' or 'brown'. For example, during the winter, Essie's color Wicked was *the* color to have (I sold an average of 14 a week in December '08), but because of its high demand I had to offer up substitutes, like Bordeaux (which was not as brown) or Revlon (which has no toluene or formaldehyde, which worked in my favor at times). When OPI came out with the color Russian Navy two years ago, I can't tell you how many times I had to call other stores because people bought it three or four bottles at a time and didn't want to buy Wet n'Wild's similar Blue Sapphire color! What I'm trying to say is, don't look at the *brand*, look at the *color* (i.e. Essie Black Licorice is identical to Wet n'Wild's Black Satin, and the latter is A LOT LESS)! If you put two colors side by side and can't distinguish one from the other in two seconds or less, you always have the option to settle! Vote this post down if you must, but it's still good advice.

I Love the Colors, I'm not a young Gal. { Just well Seasoned } And I get looks from many, when they see I'm wearing Black, Blue, Greens,Blues, Red Reds Finger Nail Polish. My hubby doesn't like it much. But,I Don't Care!! Life to dam short as it is. And where is it written that the Bright,or different Colors are only for the younger Gals to wear?. I don't follow what rules that some jerk made up. Like when your older don't have long hair { I broke that rule too } :D So Gals, of all ages wear what "YOU" like, and if your not into it. All you have to do is turn your head and look the other way! lol And I agree with, Azuree.. Buy for the COLOR! I use to do nails, had my own nail shop many years ago. I love Nail polish, and I never talked a Gal out of any Color, because the color is what seen on the younger Gals, more then US Seasoned Gals.Oh, and each Color has to carry a name, so can tell, one color of Red, or Browns, etc. from another. " HaPpY PoLiShInG" Gals..

Color may be color, but that's only good advice if you don't care how long your polish lasts on your nails. I'm a manicurist and not a fan of the cheaper polishes (NYC, Wet N Wild etc) since they don't last nearly as long as the professional brands of polish. And don't be fooled by OPI. They are genuises at marketing, but do not make the longest wearing polishes for natural nails. China Glaze wears longer by far. Any of the professional brands, (China Glaze, Essie, Zoya, OPI, Creative) give you way more bang for your buck in terms of wearability. If you don't care if your polish chips after a day or two, go for the cheaper drug store variety.

I adore COLOR! Whether it is used on walls, carpets..nails etc...It says a lot about the person. Personally, I love OPI polish. I have had gel nails for years...and ANY polish works with that. However, the under tones that OPI uses in their development of color JUMPS out at me. Nothing makes me feel better than to have my toes and handbag in the SAME color! Life is short..let´s attempt to keep it FUN!! xo
