Kristen Bell Goes Barefoot for TOMS One Day Without Shoes

Are you ready to get footloose?

Actress Kristen Bell is kicking off her heels to encourage us to go barefoot for TOMS Shoes One Day Without Shoes on April 8.

The "Couples Retreat" star goes shoeless in a new video promoting the event, which is designed to highlight the plight of children in developing countries who can't afford footwear.

"Take off your shoes and spread the word," a tree-climbing Bell says in the video.

According to the ethically minded shoe company, poverty-stricken children risk infection and disease thanks to cuts they endure while working barefoot.

"By imagining a life barefoot, we can all contribute to the awareness of these conditions," TOMS says in a statement.

Surely that's worth leaving your Louboutins at home for one measly day, right? Right?

Additionally, the brand -- which donates one pair of shoes to a child in need for every pair sold -- is selling T-shirts for the cause, including one from Threadless designer Budi Satria Kwan, who won a design challenge hosted by the company.

To pledge your support, join an event or learn more, visit OneDayWithoutShoes.com.

Meanwhile, check out Tommy Hilfiger's new campaign to raise breast cancer awareness.

The event is to help raise awareness and be a voice for those in third world countries that can't afford shoes. Also, each pair of TOMS shoes sold funds a pair of shoes for kids in poorer countries. We met up with TOMS founder and Chief Shoe Giver Blake Mycoski to find out more about this important cause and how easy it is to make a difference.

How does going one day without shoes help people without shoes? How about you send them some shoes. Oh, they're selling T-Shirts to? Great now some poor child labourer will have to work extra late tonight. Give me a break. Get your wallets out for cryin' out loud.

Um, maybe you should learn how to read

"Additionally, the brand -- which donates one pair of shoes to a child in need for every pair sold"

Yeah the companies donating something after they make a sale and good for them for doing something even if it serves their own interests. All that the majority of people will do though, is go a day without shoes and think they are making a difference which they most certainly are not.

You guys are retarded. The point is to raise awareness of the cause. It'd be less effective if you stay home all day, which is when I'm usually barefoot anyway, but people you come into contact with, be it friends, family or complete strangers, will ask you why the hell you don't have shoes on and then it's your turn to explain the cause and how you're experiencing first hand what life is like without shoes. Obviously, you won't be able to go to places like McDonald's, Starbucks or any place they serve food indoors. If you don't watch your step, your feet will get bruised, cut up and callused. But again, that's the whole point.
