If shapewear and streetwear got married and had a baby, their offspring would be Yummie Tummie, a line of muffin top- and potbelly-concealing intimates and ready-to-wear.

Yummie Tummie
founder Heather Thomson, a former celebrity stylist and the creative force behind famous-name fashion lines like P. Diddy's Sean Jean, Beyoncé's House of Dereon and Dereon, and J. Lo's Sweetface, invented a three-panel system that perfectly contours women's bodies and shaves five pounds off the midsection.

Pretty genius, if you ask us!

"It was a selfish initiative," Thomson tells StyleList. "I created things because I needed them in my wardrobe."

As a mother of two, Thomson saw her body undergo changes and craved garments that gave her shape as well as style.

She also wanted her creations to be all inclusive, so she made Yummie Tummie in sizes extra small through 3X.

Thomson recently walked us through her new spring and fall collections, which include an undergarment for everyone.

There's the Lady Gaga-style Briefie, the high-tech Sweetie bodysuit (Thomson's "homage to Donna Karan, but with new technology"), and the Peek-A-Boo, "grandma's slip on steroids."

Brand-new to the collection are Thomson's ready-to-wear pieces, including embellished shirts, a Rihanna-esque corset, knit leggings, and crisp button-downs, which all do double duty as body slimmers and prove that Thomson has fully mastered the art of form and function.

Yummie Tummie's summer pieces will be available online in mid-June and at Macy's, Saks Fifth Avenue, and specialty retailers nationwide.

Shapewear is another name for discomfort! Many years ago I came home from work, took off my girdle and swore to never wear one again. I went to excercise classes, walked, etc. Now at a great age I still refuse to wear the so called shapewear. All the exercise made me look great and feel good too. I say burn shapewear and sing a song while you do it.

I'm interested in trying this. I've bought a few spanx pieces that I like. That does a great job of slimming some of the rolls from time to time. However, as others have noted, the best thing is to just LOSE IT and I've been doing just that. 25 pounds down, 15 to go. But these pieces do indeed help when you want to look extra-slinky.

The Yummy Tummy styles are great but...their size chart is rather confusing. It seems to be sized 'big' which is kind of an insult when one has lost a lot of inches and is STILL a 1X?

While I'd like to try this, I may just stick to Spanx. We'll see.

Why don't they show the shapewear on someone who might actually need it instead of a stick figure? Lets see how it really works.

Exactly- you read my mind. These models don't need the shapewear at all- show us some full figured girls and what it can do for them.

I agree! And I'd like to see what they've got in upper arm shapewear as well!

I agree. They say the sizes go up to 3X, so why not at least go halfway? A 10 or 12 would be a more accurate demonstration I can tell absolutely nothing about this thing on a bag of bones. Sorry, no sale.

Go to the site, it DOES show some models that NEED it. And they do work. AND...they are NOT uncomfortable. I've worn different name brands many times, especially to get rid of muffin top. I'm not fat, I'm 5ft 6 and weigh about 130 lbs, but at 40 with 2 kids, stuff "jiggles" and doesn't go back to where it should. These are a LIFESAVER!!! No kidding. I love the styles of fitted t shirts and low rider jeans, but refuse to show muffin top and back fat. These tanks take care of it. Try it before you become a nay sayer. You will NOT be disappointed.

Of course it doesn't work...It "removes 5#s from your tummy and put on your ASS"...
It has to go some where---it won't disappear...

Yeah, like these anorexic looking women actually need this top. Let's see what the tops look like on REAL women.

I don't understand why the women shown are super skinny? Do really thin women need to wear shapewear or even take 5lbs off of their tummies??????

Shapewear is great for smoothing out the tummy. I am fit and active but after 4 kids there are parts of my belly that just arent smooth. All the crunches in the world are not going to change that. It is also great for teens who want to fit into hip clothing without worrying about their weight. My dd is a volley ball player and there are some things that she would love to wear but they are made for stick teens. A shapewear top allows her to wear it and still be comfortable.

The headline is very missleading. It says that the shapewear will take 5 lbs. off your belly, The truth is, it won't take any weight off, it will just cover it. Guess what? so will a modest top, a vest, a well cut dress.

Yeah, the models are a terrible example. If you go to the yummie-tummie website, it is unbelievable, the before-after picture of the model. As in, it looks like it has been photoshopped. And not the after, but the BEFORE shot appears photoshopped to make the model look flabby. If a company cannot confidently and truthfully sell their product to their target audience by using examples of their target audience, chances are it is a scam or not what they say it is.

I saw the tank top one in JcPenny's for $20 this past weekend (though I did not try ti on). Not all shapewear is uncomfortable, Spanx aren't, and you can buy some on ebay for a relatively cheap price. I do agree with you all that they should of had a "REAL" woman with the clothes on, but unfortunately, that's the fashion industry...

Instead of treating obesity as the sickness it is, our culture has decided to take the easy route and design fat peoples clothes. Lose the fat! Oh, Ashley, those are real women. Its bad that fat clubs have started up, telling people that its okay to be a blimp. Its unhealthy. Get rid of the big mac and fries and start eating fruits and grains.

Oh, and Nancy, you should really take a look at this stuff only because it's not like the girdle we all wore many years ago. I can't speak for this Yummie Tummie line but I know Spanx is very comfortable, it breathes and it actually seems to support my back (many ruptured disks).

I mean, I live in a hot, humid climate year round, and prefer to go without, but I will wear this stuff occasionally on special occasions.
