To highlight Teen Pregnancy Prevention Month in May, The Candie's Foundation -- which caught some heat last summer for its abstinence-themed T-shirt -- tapped famed daughter and teen mom Bristol Palin for a new public service announcement.

Alongside her towheaded son Tripp, Palin appears in both print and television campaigns. In the former (above), a barefaced Palin, with her hair in a messy ponytail, holds 3-month-old Tripp on her lap, next to the foreboding quote, "I never thought I would be a statistic. More than 750,000 teenage girls will become pregnant this year."

In the television PSA (watch it below), Sarah Palin's daughter, wearing pearls and a tweed blazer, stands in a plush living room while asking viewers a series of questions.

"What if I didn't come from a famous family? What if I didn't have all their support? What if I didn't have all of these opportunities?" the 19-year-old asks while images of her famous Republican clan flash on the screen.

"Believe me, it wouldn't be pretty," Palin concludes as the scene changes to just her and Tripp in a barren room, both in drab clothing. "Pause before you play."

In a behind-the-scenes interview with Palin, she explains why she signed on to work with The Candie's Foundation -- an organization striving to educate youth about the devastating outcome of teen pregnancy.

"I think I'm extremely blessed to... have this sort of life experience publicized so that others can learn from my story," she says.

"I hope it opens up a dialogue for parents to talk to their kids about teen pregnancy and the consequences. If I can prevent just one person from getting pregnant as a teen, all of this will be worth it."

As for her own goals, Palin says, "Five years from now, hopefully I'll have a better education, a career path lined up, and just be a good mom."

But for now, her day-to-day existence is a grind.

"A typical day, I'm waking up extremely early and getting my son ready to go off with the babysitter while I'm at work all day," she says.

"Once I get off from work, I'm playing with him, giving him a bath, feeding him dinner, doing the laundry, doing the dishes. There's a lot of juggling that's involved."

Bristol Palin will continue to publicize her experience with teen pregnancy when she makes her upcoming acting debut, playing a teen mom, on the ABC Family series "The Secret Life of the American Teenager."

Meanwhile, read about Britney Spears's most recent Candie's campaign.

If Bristol can get just one teenager to think of the consequences before "going all the way." great! Being a single Mom is not an easy way of life.

Wow. Really. There are no words to describe how stupid society has become. Really. "Abstinence" is just another way for people to assert themselves as "independent", and "cool"; but they really aren't. I openly disdain people like this. So does everyone at my school. Scaring kids into abstinence is a despicable and immoral practice. Contraception with both people is the way to go. Other than that, you can just turn around and walk out that door.

And Bristol, really. If you were so keen on abstinence, you wouldn't have done it in the first place. And calling Trip "a statistic"? Very loving. Very loving indeed.

And another thing: those t-shirts with "I'm Sexy, but I'll Keep You Waiting" or whatever? They just SCREAM "Rape Me!" Seriously!

People practiced abstinence for thousands of years before the pill. Protestant Britain kept birth rates down to 4 children, while other non-European countries had birth rates at 10 children. Abstinence gave the Brits the liberty of choice and to start the industrial revolution. Liberal education post 1950 would have everyone believe that history began in the 1960s. You liberals can't control yourselves! You're like animals! you sleep around when your young and grab whose left in your thirties. then you spend the rest of your life comparing your mate to the hundreds of partners that you've spent your youthful vitality on.

You are right about how stupid our society has become. When people openly disdain what is right and champion wrong causes like promiscuity, our society has
admittedly become very stupid indeed.

I am speaking as a former teen age father. Your life will be changed. You can not be serious when you mention morals and teenage sex. I spent most of my senior year married and it sucks.I did not go to college and spend time with my friends. I went to work. I graduated on Friday and Monday I was working. I lasted longer than most I made it 14 years, and then my ex decided she had missed something in life. We got divorced and I then got to spend every other weekend with my children.
Abstinence may not be cool but it is the only sure fired way not to get knocked up. Just because you can screw like monkeys doesn't mean you have to. If you have to be sexually active you had better have the guy wrap it up tight and even then the girls need to be on something. The best thing is still not to have sex until you are older and more set in life to accept the baby that will follow.

So Alex, basically what you're saying is that you can't get laid and you're desperately hoping that you can somehow feel better about your inadequacies by talking about someone else. That about sum it up kiddo? You're far from the only kid to have an "expert" opinion, and you're far from the only kid whose "expert" opinion is coming from an inexperienced and underinformed standpoint. The simple fact is that it will take you years of age and experience before you are really in a position to take a hard stance on anything. Right now, you're just a parrot preaching the last opinion someone gave you. Tell me exactly how abstinence doesn't work? Historically, it has. Don't confuse changes in the moral fabric of a society with an endorsement. Just because enough people doing the wrong thing got together and threatened to start suing everyone, doesn't make it the right thing to do. I hope for your sake that you learn sooner than later that you don't know anywhere near as much as you think you do. Then maybe you can go on Dr. Phil and blame all of your problems on someone else instead of taking ownership for the fact that you're just another know-it-all kid trying to prove how mature they think they are by speaking out on an issue they know absolutely nothing about, and nothing you can say is going to change that fact. That's why it's a fact kid, it's irrevocable truth.

"You liberals can't control yourselves. You're like animals...."

Bironfelix, have you watched the news lately (and I don't mean Fox Noise)? You conservatives can't keep it in your pants (either)!

The problem is neither liberal or conservative, but how we as a culture have stigmatized sex, turned it into something dirty and shameful, made it into forbidden fruit. Sex is a natural part of life, and if we could talk openly and frankly about it, especially with our kids, we wouldn't be having so many "Bristols". Sarah Palin failed Bristol in this way, and so do many parents in this country.

No one is "demeaning" her because of her politics. I don't think she has any salient political view. What is being said is her promoting abstinence, which has statistically been shown to be a dismal failure in every country in the world. Just google the facts. She calls herself a statistic. Maybe if she had found out the true facts behind abstinence she might have been in a different situation but I guess a mother who is a quitter, a fact ignorer and promotes "Tea Party" lunacy when another fact shows less than 25% of the country consider themselves "TPs" and promotes Michelle Bachman, the biggest looney in the Senate, is her biggest influence. Sheep.

Umm...abstinence doesn't work? I don't have to google anything. Look at the US in the 50s. Abstinence was pretty much the way of things and it was EXTREMELY rare to find a girl in high school that was pregnant. Now we've got 12 year olds gang raping each other. Wonder which policy works better. Ignorant...look at what all of your liberal crap is doing to the world. You think you are helping but you are only serving to make things much much worse. Imagine what the typical black family could be right now without welfare. They would have pulled themselves out of poverty themselves. Instead liberals think they need to take care of black people...like they aren't capable. And you call conservatives racist??

As does keeping their legs together, the guys keeping it in their pants and trying to be at least a little Biblical about it. Sex is something that God intended for the Marriage bed not as just another form of recreation.

I think it is pretty well understood at this date where babies come from and how easy it is to prevent an unwanted pregnancy. I guess the information on human reproduction hasn't reached Alaska yet. I am hoping it gets there soon, we don't need any more of these reproducing.
