Lilly Pulitzer Puts Its Print on Animal Crackers Box

Rather than the classic red circus-train design, the rectangular boxes are illustrated with a menagerie of animals. It's a distinctively Lilly look, with a breezy, sketchy style and a bright pink, green and yellow palette.
The back of the box explains the charitable impetus behind this partnership. Kraft Foods, the parent company of Nabisco, supports tiger conservation in Sumatra through the World Wildlife Fund.
In honor of 2010, the Year of the Tiger, Nabisco Barnum's Animals crackers will donate $100,000 to the WWF to help protect these endangered cats.
The box redesign with Lilly Pulitzer helps raise awareness of these efforts.
One million of these special-edition boxes are being produced. They started shipping to grocery stores in late March and will be available through this month, depending on how quickly they're snapped up.
Janie Schoenborn, fashion director of Lilly Pulitzer, told StyleList, "Lilly Pulitzer has never repeated a print in 50 years, with designs often inspired by tigers, gators and other endangered species. It was truly rewarding to create a product that gives back!"
This project dovetails with Lilly Pulitzer's spring clothing collection, called Protective Prints. The designs were inspired by different endangered species, ranging from butterflies to crocodiles.
As we previously reported, the company released its first black-and-white print with a panda motif; a portion of the net sales from that print was also donated to the WWF.
