Michelle Obama may have some of the country's most-wanted designers on speed dial, but that doesn't mean the First Lady doesn't still shop in regular stores like the rest of us.

Yesterday, she paired a L'Wren Scott cardigan with a $59.99 shirt from Talbots! Take a look at the outfit and let us know if you like the look:

Yes Jim, I know, some of your best friends are black. I bet you would not make that statement, coward, to a black person face to face.

Some outfits were definitely hits, but there are a lot of misses. The 1st one is too busy with multiple patterns. She is not a fashion icon and should definitely forgo anything waisted or belted as she is too high waisted and has a pear shape. Also, she should stick to clothing with sleeves. I don't care how much the media gushes over her arms, they aren't pretty.

When she starts buying her clothes at Marshalls, Burlington, Wal-mart, Kohls or Target then you can say she shops in regular stores. Talbots and JCrew are not stores
the average person shops in. What planet are you on??? You just annoy people more by making a big deal about something people can't relate to.

Hazel, that's a pretty ignorant statement. J. Crew and Talbots are "mid priced" stores, especially for the Obamas, whose salaries before becoming President were around a million dollars. It just shows that Michelle Obama is not a "Label Queen" and knows the value of a dollar.

I used to shudder seeing the garish outfits of Nancy Reagan (like the $30,000.00 Galanos dress) and Laura Bush's $3500.00 Oscar de La Renta lunch suits. I'm glad to see some sensibility about spending, especially in this economy. Mrs. Obama is giving her girls a good education about spending wisely.

I totally agree, I hate the way Michelle Obama dresses and very rarely do I think she has a style "hit".

However, Talbots and JCrew are very reasonably priced, when they have sales anyway. Talbots has a sale twice a year and I've gotten great clothes for work for very low prices.

I'M CONFUSED AM I MISSING SOMETHING. "A FASHION ICON" I DON'T THINK SO. I AGREE THAT SOME THINGS ARE QUITE NICE, BUT THOSE BELTS ARE HORRIBLE, SOME LOOK LIKE WRESTLING BELTS. SOME OF THE COLOR COMBINATIONS ARE OVER THE TOP.
