Dressed in jeans, a puffy coat, and a ponytail, she had no clue the Mission Makeover team was watching. Upon their approach, Gloria was hesitant to accept a free makeover. But with a little nudging from the girls, she finally agreed.
Starting the transformation was makeup artist and hair stylist Roberta Inez. Her goal: give Gloria a fun, yet grown-up look for the celebration.
To even out Gloria's skin tone, Inez dabbed foundation only to the areas that needed coverage. She applied it with a foundation brush, then blended with a makeup sponge to create a second skin effect. Inez patted concealer under Gloria's eyes to cover and brighten. Using a concealer one shade lighter than your foundation helps to lighten the area and still appear natural.
Inez smoothed a peachy-bronze blush across Gloria's cheekbones, then dipped the brush in shimmer powder and lightly dusted the face. To avoid shimmer overload, lightly coat your blush brush and tap off any excess. Sweep the brush gently over the face so the shimmer grazes, and doesn't coat the skin.
Because the eyes were the focal point, Inez kept Gloria's lips muted -- a rule of thumb when wearing a strong lid. She opted for a pale pink lipstick that paired perfectly with her warm complexion.
Stylist Jordan Feldman fitted Gloria in a classic black dress that can be worn day or night. The cut -- a high scoop neckline, fitted bodice and knee-skimming hemline -- wears well on almost any body type. Feldman paired the sheath with simple accessories including a gold link necklace and black peep-toe pumps.
Gloria's final look: chic, sophisticated and ready to celebrate.
