Salon Manicures Double Chances of Brittle Nails; GoBeauty's New Cuticule Treatment Aims to Change That

If you think a professional manicure is a healthy treat for your nails, think again; salon manicures double your chances of brittle nail syndrome, according to studies conducted for GoBeauty by New York Dermatologist Dr. Neil Sadick.
And if you've frequently got your hands in dishwater (Madge, I soaked in it!) the risk shoots up almost seven times over.
Enter GoNails, an all-natural cuticle treatment that claims to close the gap between dishwashing duty and healthy, strong nails. The patented and alcohol-free cream strengthens nails with Lipoplastadine, a form of biotin derived from egg yolk, as well as Thymulen 4, which stimulates keratin production for a healthier nail plate. Also in the mix are jojoba oil, Vitamin E, tea tree oil and collagen, to sanitize, nourish and regenerate nails.
"Nails are the window into your body's health, which is why people can be so embarrassed by chipped, splitting and broken nails. If you've ever had surgery, it's common to be told not to wear nailpolish. That's because your nails will immediately show if you're not getting enough oxygen," says Adam Dinkes, a GoBeauty partner.
For best results, it's advised you apply the rich cream to cuticles twice a day. Though one to two pumps is the recommended dosage, we found that one pump of the moisture-dense lotion was more than enough for all ten fingers.
While the cream hasn't been tested for clinical results on toes, we hear the results are promising there too. A wife of one of the creators is a dancer, and is said to use it successfully on her worn and wearied feet.
But make no mistake about it - the GoNail creators aren't telling you to stop going to the nail salon if that's your idea of relaxing pampering.
"Because you apply the cream on the cuticle, you'll get the benefits whether you have natural nails, salon manicures and even gels and wraps. This is a product you can add to whatever it is you're already enjoying and doing, so that you can have stronger nails," says Dinkes.
You don't have to wait very long to see results, either.
"You'll see improvement in your cuticle in the first 24 to 48 hours, if you're applying it twice a day as directed. You'll see the difference in your nails in 10 to 14 days," adds Dinkes.
With nails under their belt, we hear that the next product GoBeauty is working on developing is a shampoo for female hair loss.
The cleansing and conditioning scalp treatment is being created under the watchful eye of Dr. Sadick -- a hair loss expert -- and will be formulated as an add-in product to whatever haircare regime you currently have.
We also heard several weeks ago that Latisse-maker Allergan is working on a similar treatment for hair loss.
Looks like this will be a heated race to the beauty finish line.

Where is this product sold? I'd like to try it if it's not too pricey.
