The King is finally adding a Queen to his royal throne.
King of Shaves -- the popular shaving product British import -- has launched a Queen Of collection for ladies in search of a leg-smoothing fix.
The line features Oooh La La and Ta Da shave gels, which are paraben-free, low-foaming formulas created to stave off razor burn and nourish skin with ingredients like aloe vera and tea tree oil. With flirtatious packaging inspired by Barbarella, it's clear the Brits aren't taking themselves too seriously.
"Most women who shave regularly are under 40. After that age, more women tend to wax. Younger women want something cute and pretty to put in their bathroom, and we went with a real fun look for the packaging," says Diane Wood, Master Barber - who famously shaved David Letterman live on-air after he grew out a beard in honor of the Writer's Guild strike in 2008.
The gels will retail for $3.99 and roll out to select Target stores across the country this Spring. As for the cheeky Queen Of name, the brand intentionally left off the last word so that women could fill in the blank with whatever it is they want to be for that day. Clearly, they figured out what women really want -- choice.
And Wood has a tip on something you may want to steal from your man.
"If you're about to walk out the door and notice you missed a spot while shaving, a touch of shaving oil and a quick run over with the razor will smooth you out safely and fast," advises Wood.
In fact, it was the concept of shaving oil that launched King of Shaves in the 90s, when founder Will King concocted his own oil solution after years of dealing with shaving irritation. King of Shaves is now the second-ranked shaving brand in the UK, behind mass giant Gillette.
Not bad for a random kitchen experiment.
